So this afternoon me and my family went to our cell phone carrier and setup a new line for my son. My son got his new S7 edge and created a new GMAIL account since he did not have one. As we were leaving the store he was downloading Pokémon Go and then logged in and started to catch Pokémon with his brother.

Fast forward almost 90 minutes, as we are now walking through the town center (mall area) my son is catching Pokémon on his new phone and then his phone prompted that there is an update available, my son applied the update and it reset his phone. When his phone restarts, he attempts to log back in he gets the Failed to get Data error, after an uninstall and reinstall of Pokémon Go he then receives the humbled server message. A few attempts later, the Failed to get Data error occurs again.

His phone is brand new (not refurbished), not on WiFi and is now what we consider banned. There was definitely not a bot involved, no rooting or GPS spoofing as it was a new account and it was his first time playing Pokémon Go. I also checked his phone to ensure it did not contain any other email addresses, etc... it was clean.

I have no idea what may have caused it to trigger or happen. We were only walking around the town center and it definitely did not attach to any WiFi either that was disabled.

It would be interesting if we all think these are bans happening and they have some other issue going on that is totally non-related, if it is related then Niantic has some really crappy ways to flag an account.

      Just thought I would share.

you know i was thinking about this the other day, what if they are actually having some kind of meltdown and losing data or had a data breach and are scrubbing their servers so everyones information isn't readily available to the intruders. ill remove my tinfoil hat and totally not trying to hijack this thread just got my wheels turning again. i hope your son gets his account back friend GLto you !

Thanks. The account does not really matter as it was nothing that was truly invested in and he can always create a free one again, although he really has no desire to do so. My concern is for those that are playing 100% legit and getting what we considered banned. If I did not see it for myself, I probably would not believe it or give it much thought. Those that paid real money for Pokécoins and did NOT bot or cheat in any way, I feel sorry for. Those that bot like myself, eh it is the choice we make and we are out of the money and I would never try to recovery money based on something that I did that violated a TOS or an agreement.

So glad I am not the only person who had their account banned. Mine was from traveling to the states and back within 14 hrs and playing it off and on wifi down there and once on roaming. When I got back it was banned. I have sent so many emails waiting for replies. Nothing yet

if you were here during the whole gobot stuff (another forum/bot) nan is basically handling it like that... there is zero communication and thats really crappy. honestly if there wasnt money involved its still really bad. the money just amplifies it... i do feel bad for the legit players.. as far as my account goes, im kinda mad at myself for getting my level 23 account banned once it hit 30. i did spend about 110 macaroos on it and i did put a ticket in with apple only because there was zero communication. now had they made a tweet about it saying "Yo you little shit birds are getting banned for being a holes" i would just walk away. i guess im just old fashioned and try to talk things out before smashing the hammer on someone. sorry for the spelling/grammar im in a rush.

I have had 2 of 3 receive the "failed to load game data" message, no official email stating it is banned. Tried to create a new account using previous gamer name to see it is unavailable to use. So, is it possible they have offered up this ban appeal form to see who is guilty and fills it out? I personally submitted a request with getting the problem signing in to this link. No need in admitting I am wrong until they say I am banned. I have also had multiple friends that play legit have the same issue.

Either way thanks for the great product, look forward to using it more when all this is figured out, no need in making 100 more accounts just to get the same issue.
