Hey there. I know people are mostly running stuff through VPNs here, but I was wondering if PoE works through proxies? For me setting up proxies is much easier than VPNs so I would prefer those, but I need to buy some before I can try if it works - so I just thought I might ask here first.

      Cheers.

a VPN is sort of a proxy. LoL. The difference is the Shared/Unique IP, you're most likely gonna have a shared IP with your proxy, if someone use the same, gets hit, you get down too.

But yeah, anything can work through a proxy.

if use vpn,u need to set something to hide ur ip when vpn disconnect.
if use socket 5,u don't need to anything when proxy failed.
      Am I right?

No, it depends on your configuration, if you set it so it can't connect to poe with your pub ip, it'll not. if you did not set it up like this, it'll and you'll get locked.
You shouldn't disconnect, since those things have 99.9% uptime. if something went bad, it's on your side mostly.

i think you can just setup firewall to block connections for application if it matches ur home ip or not matches proxy ip
