It's very common for subs to drop off toward the end of the expansion when people get their fill of it (or every major content release, really), it'll shoot back up with WoD's release.

Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria were awful expansions. That's really all I have to say.

Cataclysm was bad and MoP was worse. I really hope WoD will be better.

I actually liked both Cata and Mop, im playing my main since vanilla and TBC is my favourite, this is why im looking foreward to corecraft ...
But yeah the lack of content is just rediculous, I mean no large content update in a whole year wtf ?

Wrath was amazing loved ICC tons!, rs didn't bring much to the table, cata was abysmal but mop is OK at best. Just hope the reason for big lack of content is to add a megaton to WoD!

      • When I used to play properly, it seemed an age we raided DS for, it really did seem like a long sad boring lifetime. Haven't raided in MOP but I guess those doing SoO must be pulling their hair out, or unsubscribing in mass.

that decline looks like a black diamond ski slope. it drops so fast in comparison to anything else. Looks like the only thing keeping wow afloat is us.

Especially since we do what others would rather not. They throw gold at us for doing the grunt work. I'd go so far as to say we're pretty close to being the backbone of the economy.

Exactly this, the AH would be DEAD without botters, esp the herb/mine market, but everything else will fall with that.

Even on a high pop realm I play on, there's still only 5 at the most people posting classic-cata mats. 1-2 are obvious "always under-cut and always over-stocked" bots... which dissapear fast.

My #1 tip ever, is to NEVER undercut. A lot of people, myself included, would rather buy jo blogs 20g a stack then your 19g 50s a stack because your a dick and nobody likes being undercut.

As soon as blizzard merged with activision blizzard lost their spark. They stopped making the game THEY themselves loved and activision pushed for a "call of duty" like expansion product style. The two expansions activision has published since the blizzard merge have been cata and MoP both of which in my book are complete failures. Anyone who says activision has no say on the content creation is a complete hag and has no idea about the concept of business. Activision-blizzard is a corporation with greedy shareholders they dont care about the game/players just about their bottom line. Anyone who says differently clearly needs to lookup greed in the dictionary.

I agree with you 100% and they were also the reason Diablo III was no where near as good as the first two games in that franchise. If anyone wants to debate that statement, answer this question...name one game Blizzard has released, since Activision took them over, that has exceeded everyone's expectations? I can't think of a single one. Hopefully they learned their lesson and changed with WoD but I'm not going to hold my breath.

      ^ Have to agree.
D3 and expansion was crap. It was fun run and explore but beyond that it did not shine and it did not manage to hold interest. Patch 2.1 is still not out after like a year or so.

Starcaft 2: This is kind of successful, it managed to replace SC:BW. But plot was predictable.

WoW: No comment they should bring back Wrath design and way of thinking. But WoW is old there is ton of competition for the MMO market. No WoW killer but every next MMO steal some people and some are just bored of 10 years of almost the same. Need more content and updated more often.

Titan is scrapped for god know what reason and remade a new. Biggest worry is that its gonna be dated when its released after all with 6-7 years making it.

      Hearthstone: The only 100% winner.

To be honest, I don't see much of a difference in any of the expansions. They are all the same and the content is all the same, sure there are new boss features every expansion and changes to pretty much everything through the games lifetime but at the core, its still the same and always will be. For me personally, TBC was the best, but thats only because I enjoyed the game more then due to the people I was playing with, being a GM and being young and niave. I'm sure everyone has similar experiences only with different expansions. I really dont think you lose interest because of the patches, just you lose interest in general.

Edit: That being said, D3 was a pile of shit, nobody in their right mind can dispute that xD

This is also when custom models for everything came to a grinding HALT. They began re-using weapons, gear, and several auras. This has been royally pissing me off. They fish out some old items from the lvl 30 era, and give it to a raid boss. Orodos's weapon was from an 85 dungeon during cataclysm.

I can see some re-use, but come on... they're swapping models of PVP and PVE gear around and changing their colors which takes 5 seconds.
That new purple floating WOD boss with the feather wings? That's the aura from the shoulder pieces of the priest PVP gear this season.
The offhand that comes from the iron juggernaut? PVP offhand from season (5?) of which they used the same models and coloration.
There's more to name, but the list is endless.
I can see some of this being a good thing so they can focus on other stuff, but this is going to turn WoW into a cookie cutter game more and more as time goes on.

Yeah, it was pretty shitty of them to release on the ps3 and give out exclusive content based on console, then not even connect them or accounts. Of course Sony could be partly to blame for that too I guess.
