I format to clean the machine. It works for me so I do it. The few times I didn't format I got banned again on the comp shortly after I started new bot accounts. I never said anything about MAC address either. I don't use VPN's, proxies, or VM's. Those are pointless.

"It works for me" - Ehm... Please enlighten me how it works then. There is no difference what so ever. Either the bot is detected or its not. Sometimes you get lucky, other times you dont.

Either stuff works for everyone or no one. You are not that special :)

You also say VPN is pointless. Its way less pointless when format your PC. A new IP adress DOES do a difference.

Well, I only get banned in waves so what I'm doing is working for me.

The number of botters that only get caught in waves is probably pretty close to 99%. Figure if 50 people get banned day (probably on the high side of numbers) and there's 4000 people running the bot at any given time (may be on the low side), that's right around 1% of botters a day getting caught.

Saying you only get banned in the banwaves does not make you unique or special. What would make you more unique or special is getting banned daily - weekly.

This drives me nuts. People are entitled to their privacy and most pay for a vpn for reasons outside of wow. (Myself included). Should I choose to use it for wow it shouldn't mean insta ban. Yet here we are.

Why is this thread still open to discuss what ?? Banwave has happend. Move on. People has bought new accounts and new version HB is out. Bot is still being detected no matter what and people is still getting banned and that is it.
Maybe moderators should closed down this thread.

We all signed Blizzards "Terms of service". You can't complain. And as the poster above me stated, yeah this is a dead horse close this thread already.

Or maybe it should be left open so people have a place to discuss these things instead of having 5-10 new threads a day opened to ask stupid questions that are covered in this thread.

You know if you don't like the fact that this thread is here, you don't have to click on it...The information here isn't helping you, so there's no reason to come here.

Yea cause after 12 years I've read that a grand total of 0 times

Considering consumer vpn is relatively new, it must have been added in a newer version of the Eula. Care to fill me in on what it says regarding vpns?

And for the white knights out there. This is likely still open to A) consolidate threads/info/keep forum cleaner after a major event and B) since it's been all of a week, the jury is still out.

If it bothers you so, why are you hear clicking and reading - let alone replying?

The ToS nor the EULA has any rule against using VPN's to connect to wow...

The problem isn't that you're using a VPN, the problem is the VPN you chose to use.

Just like almost everything in life, the cheaper and more publicly available something is, the more likely you are to be screwed by it...This same rule applies to HB.

Use a private or smaller VPN and you probably won't have an issue...But then again VPN's do absolutely nothing anyways to keep your accounts safe, so why even try to use one anyways?

Bans were after a wave at someone or not? How to predict the scan on the bot? I understand that when there is a scan and see the third-party software, and then prescribe the ban right?

"Warden can be updated anytime without the need to restart the client. What they call tripwire is nothing but a memoryscanner checking if any opcode has changed in the wardenclient."

      Ok, disagree all you want...

Go read the literally thousands of posts from users that were banned while using a VPN. Then go ahead and tell me exactly how a VPN has kept you safe....Cheap, publicly available VPN's have been shown many times that they may lead to IP bans

Here's an experiment for you to run....

Run an account for 10 days with a VPN and run an account for 10 days without a VPN. I bet you'll notice zero difference.

I know you can't possibly think that a VPN is hiding your personal details from Blizz.

Can the honorbuddy team proactively scan or detect the code that Identifies the bot on how it was detected rather than being reactive on it?

I dont care how much it took them to scan or detect as long as we are safe?

What they could, they've already done, bro. Don't offer solutions if you don't know how this works.

That's why I ask if they could, every wow patch, bliz injects some detection method for honorbuddy and took them 3 weeks to identify users who are running the bot so for 3 weeks. Upon checking from post hb team were able to identify and the detection method were there for 3 weeks. I ask if they could proactively check every patch of wow if there are any detection method inserted in the client instead of being reactive where there are lots of users banned using the bot and then they will fix the hd code so that it will not be detected.

The theory sounds legit - make sense, won't really know until you test the theory ;)

They didn't say they monitor your entire pc. They monitor their own memory functions/processes. Thus the injection process could potentially be detected as its hooking directly into this area.
