Yes, I'm still alive. I have not dropped off the face of the earth, though, it feels very close to it.

I'm not sure what you have seen on the news but Christchurch, New Zealand - where I live - had a massive earthquake 2 weeks ago and devastated the city.

Long story short; approximately 200 people are still missing, 166 (at last report) people confirmed dead. 50% (at last report) of the central business district needs to be demolished, or already has been. Thousands of houses are still without water and power.

Fortunately I have power and water on at home. But the power drops out intermittently, and disconnects at night from about 8-10pm and comes on again in the morning about 6-8am. I have phone and internet, but my internet is barely modem speed and certainly not useable for anything .

My house is - for lack of a better description - fucked! Three rooms have become detected from the rest of the house and we can't use 2 of them. The back of the house has sunk about a foot. A structual engineer has inspected the house and said its safe to live in for now (unless we get another large quake) but its very likely the house needs to be demolished due to the damage.

I'm currently using tethering on my iPhone to browse the internet / forums. I can't run WoW or do any development. So those having issues with my CCs will need to wait. I fully intend on return as soon as life has some normality returned.

Sorry to heat about that mate but good to hear that you and family are safe. NZ and Australia have had it bad latley im from Brisbane so floods for us quakes for you, take it easy mate and all the best.

For Christ's sake mate, I'm sorry to hear that. Didn't even know about the quake until now. At least you are ok, the rest can be resolved. Best of luck man.

I have friends who live in Brisbane and I know how bad they were hit with the flooding.

I'm now waiting for the famine and locusts. Its the end of the world .... run.

 

Hey man, I too am located in Christchurch, although where i am living we have suffered minimum to no damage.
Power took 3 days to come back on, water around a week, but it is still not safe to drink.
