That's like saying "lets print more money, it will fix the economy". It doesn't work like that.

If blizzard keeps the price above 70k/token the gold will become cheap and widely available for everyone. So then why bother and do dailyquests? Why bother and do anything that yields gold? Why spend 10 months farming gold for a nice pet or mount of whatever the casuals are working on when you can spend 13$ and buy it directly from the AH? Blizzard would rather keep the casuals in-game for 10 months, than have them gain a LOT of gold for the price of one month.

I know that everyone believes that blizzard is implementing this to stop botters. NO. They are implementing this to make more money and gain +rep with the share-holders. When you will be able to understand that, even though blizzard actively campaigns against bots, their number one priority is the casual players and how to get money from their pockets? If they can find a price for the token that will keep the casual for 10 months in game AND make them buy 4-5 tokens, then it's a win-win. But if the tokens are 100k+, let's say. The casual will buy 2-3 tokens, achieve his goals, move on to the next game in 2 months. Blizzard doesn't have enough content to keep people with loads of gold glued to the expansion.

Also, keep in mind that a lot of people can't wait to buy tokens, to get game time, so keeping a high price would annoy them, again a potential loss, since these people are mostly casuals, the ones that don't have real $ to spend on WoW.

I'm not saying that this will help botters, no. It will probably help the casual botters, as some guy stated above. It will probably kill/disrupt the business of botters owning 2-10 bots trying to get 3-400$/month. The professional botters will not care at all.

WoW has 10 million subscribers. How many hardcore people do you think there are? Say 15%? How many botters do you think there are? 5%? I'm stretching, but let's say 10% (1 million bot accounts). That leaves 7.5 million casuals. Do you really think that this token has anything to do with botters and finding ways to kill them?

      That's my .2 cents.

Bro, that's a good idea, but the thing is, their outcome is not that people do daily quests.
Their main objective is to put farmers out of business, and that intention is clearly mentioned in their official post where they talk about hackers, etc.
They pretty much would like this trade-able currency to be finished, just like they did in diablo 3

Your idea about shareholders is also legit.
They still would like 2 birds with 1 stone of course. (please the shareholders and kill the farmers)

It is not that they are against botters, but definitely they are against gold sellers

In my humble opinion Blizzard has a lot of ways to completely destroy botting in WoW.

Just a quick example: As far as i know there are no bots for Rift(or at least it makes it hard to make one) using a simple strategy. Every bot needs to read a set of offests. In Rift case the offsets are encoded in a file and can't be obtained by if you don't read the X file. The only program that needs to read them is Rift.exe. So everything else that reads them gets banned. All Blizz needs is to adopt the same system.

Also Blizzard had another idea recently that people seem to ignore largely. Blizzard wanted to make all inactive accounts Start Editons(With Trail limits(or at lest some of them)) I willing to bet my ass, that those accounts will be able to buy tokens so they can become legit accounts. So influx of returning players should be expected.

      Also something else:
If Blizzard raises the bar of how much a token costs in gold they would drive away and alienate people from the new system. The question is how much gold does the average Joe make in WoW for a month? I don't play wow anymore so i don't know what is reasonable for a human to make in a day. But i do know that i would be put off the game if i need a month of average human play to gather gold to buy a new month. I would like to buy gear, pets, dragons, pots things that i find fun in the game. I would not really like it if i have to farm 30 or even 15 days 2-3 hours a day to buy a token that cost like around 15$.
Also 15$ is like chimp money in America(eastern European here) don't you guys like work two hours for that amount. I would rather work 2 hours irl or do some chores(if kid) than spend days farming(and farming as we know is not very fun). Which brings me to another idea if a 15$ token is=HUGE AMOUNT OF GOLD wouldn't there be a huge uproar on the forums OMG WoW PAY TO WIN and JONNY IS DUELWILDING HIS MOMS CC. I would bet that it would be a turn off for new gamers if they hear a game is pay to win.

keeping the price high as in 100k for a token coin that cost $19.99 will not annoy people. it'll create more bots , just less people buying from third party because they spent $19.99 and got 100k gold. Everyone doesn't bot to farm gold to sell. they can just come here and make three lines of code and sell it for $20(exaggerating) .

i don't really farm that much just level characters and use some of those grind profiles and get BoE and sell.

When someone buys a token for 15$ and sells it for 10$ in in game gold it means someone needed to have that gold.
Considering most of the gold is made by bots there will be an increase in demand and probably a rise in price.

I don't see it as a bad thing as long as there are no dupes or anything like that.

Gold selling is not even close to being done. Blizzard does not currently have near real time capabilities to adjust the value of the game time tokens; whereas the various gold seller websites make a few small adjustments - and bam; they offer better exchange rates than Blizzard.

People will always migrate to the better exchange rates. Blizzard will NEVER win against gold farmers; not unless they employ hundreds of folks who do nothing but monitor for botting/gold selling and the like. Since Blizzard now has to cater to stock holders who don't worry about anything but profit margins, I don't see them ponying up the $$$$ to hire enough people to maintain a task force sufficient enough to monitor everything (after all - again - everything's about profit margins now).

Instead - they'll rely on warden changes, which as you've seen - can be worked around very easily if you know how it works.

pretty sure blizz has done their research on the going rate of third party gold sells. its not going to sell in game for $10 (third-party) worth of gold. like i said before these coins are for people with abundance amount of gold ( mainly farmers) and mainly for blizz to make money. i'll definitely buy a gold token coin for $19.99 if blizz sets AH price for 100k.

I dont see that happening. im guessing it will be around 50-75k 75k when it first comes out and before expansions and patches, 50k after that new smell runs out.

iam kinda reading such low prices like 50k and stuff, i cant rly understand why you people think blizzard will make those so low-priced
i mean some websites offer gold for like 150€/100k and i guess people buying it as those sites are still in the business so undercutting them by like 500% would be dumb as fuck

Because they dont want people thinking this is now a pay to win game. I know on my server 695 gear is selling for less than 100k and theres about 4 that you can buy.

Oh and 25-40k. I hope so. That means gold prices are going up big time for us.

If blizzard wants to target botters they will sell those tokens for like 0.2 $ - means 19.99 / 100k. Ppl would definitly buy those tokens alot even though the rate is pretty gay, but it makes life hard for professional botters to undercut that rate even more.
If blizzards wants to make profit in the first place they will of course set a better rate like 0.5$ which will not really kill the third party market.

Also if ever they sell cheap like 19.99 for 100k we will have huge gold prices inflating the auction house. So for ppl who dont want to buy a token to get gold, they will have a hard time buying enchants, pets and shit because if u get 100k for such a low price, even though they will kill bots, the market will crash - thats what i think.

However i am really excited to see what happens. As a semi professional botter i dont really like the token news.. at all.

dude... the reason for it to be 75k or 100k is you're basically just buying gold from blizz instead of a third party. wouldn't you rather spend $19.99 on 100k or $82 on 100k from a third party? i don't see it being at 25k . That wouldn't make sense, you could just buy the gold from third-party and either save a few dollars or even out. Which i doubt anyone would do just for gametime.

well supply and demand is also a point which most ppl dont think about, selling those tokens for 19.99$/100k also means someone is willing to give away 100k for just 19.99$. i dont know if this is what especially "normal" players are willing to do as 100k for them is much more as for "us"

well i all i see on this forum is people talking about " ohh i have way to much gold. what do i do with it." i don't sell gold, so maybe someone who does could clarify on what they sell 100k to third-party for. But to someone who doesn't sell and has abundance of gold. i'm sure they'll send someone 100k to get another account started back botting.
