I have seen a couple of threads with links to Battlenet/WoW. Ummm can't they tell where you are being redirected from and wouldn't it raise a red flag if my ip address is kinking from the HB Home Page?
the question id ask, do they care to track 10m players and where they visited on the internet while they werent on blizzards website.
tbh i strongly believe that if blizz wanted to ban all botters they wouldn't even bat an eye to do so just remember to keep them in moderate numbers that is all cuz botters keep the economy running, doing things that we are lazy to
I truly believe Blizzard has the capability to ban all botters, but they lack the incentive to do so. This is because they are a publicly traded company. Though I do not really have any Blizzard specific evidence, but all Corporation have a their top priority to shareholders. And in general the Board of Directors are rewarded with company shares, so the people who run the company are shareholders as well and serve to benefit personally (usually in a big way) from company profitability. So no matter what they will strive to keep profits high and increasing at all costs. This means not banning hundreds of thousands of botters. We are paying customers just like normal players, and the only real reason to ban a bot is because it is affecting other normal players in a bad way. So that if Blizzard thinks that at a certain point 1 bot account could cause them to lose 2 regular players, then it is best to ban the botter and only lose 1 account and not 2, and there is a good chance the botter will buy another game/subscription if he is banned anyway. Regular players that leave game because they are mad about bots may not come back. They have probably set up thresholds for player reports, so in all reality it really doesn't matter if you bot but if you piss off too many other players and you get alot of reports Blizz will probably ban you anyway. So no, Blizzard would not even want to track what website you go to since it has zero impact on their profitability. Hell they really don't care if you bot either, just keep paying them and don't piss off the other players. I have been botting since cata, and never been warned or banned. But I practice zero footprint botting. I don't ninja anything from players if I can help it and I don't bot where there are tons of players around (though sometimes you can't avoid this completely). I don't bot for extreme amount of hours either, and run it as if it were a person playing it. Something should be said about the hardcore botter, one who mass bot accounts and suicide farm gold like 24/7. Then sell it for real money. Blizzard does not like this because the person makes money off their game, and Blizzard wants their cut. So probably good for Blizz to delay auto bans for these people so they can make enough money to cover the cost to buy new game. So I am sure Blizzard knows they make decent amount of money from return gold farmers who are botting, and if you play on your account like you are a suicide gold farmer you will likely get banned in few weeks give or take.
