My friend told me the following:
If I use one account that i'm botting on just for my own profits (instance farming) and an other account that I'm playing legit on (a main account that never bots), blizzard wont see my main account as a threat and not banning it if thy ban my botting account.

I know you can't say that this is how it is, and that it's safe and there are ofc different story and exceptions on this subject. But is there some small truth in this? Thy should still see my main account as a income and sins i'm not doing to much damage with my one bot thy might just don't care and just ban that bot account.

What do you guys think of this? I'm I just looking for a reason to calm my self when i'm botting, or do i have a chance that thy will leave my main account out of this?:p

If you never bot on your main account you wont get banned for botting..

However its possible if you xfer large amounts of gold you could get banned for exploitation of the economy (buying gold). However that is extremely rare.. Generally that done ban the person buying gold..

If you botting account gets banned- Its very important that do not bot your main for some time- There is evidence that once a IP is flagged with a botting account- Blizzard will investigate all other accounts linked- via ip/payment methoed ect.

So basically your pretty safe on your main account if your not botting.. And when I main not botting- I mean not ever opening Honorbuddy and attaching it to the WOW executable with your main account on it.. Using HB to do your rotations in raids/pvp is still botting- and people have been banned for it

A vary good answer thnx. But I have a fallow up question for you. When Wod started I botted on my main account that resulted in me getting a 72 bann. Now I haven't botted on that account sins then, and i'm not going to use HB ever again on that account. Will this be a problem you think? I have moved sins then and have a new IP adress if that is of any importance.

No, that doesn't change anything for you main account, if you never bot again on that account..

It just means you won't get another chance on that account, wich isn't a issue as your not botting on it.

Most of the time casual botters will get a 72hour ban first

Be aware, sometimes whoever is in charge of bans for the turn can have a bad day.

Normally, when you have a bot account farming mats (or gold) , you usually pass them to your main account for selling / storing / prospecting, whatever. That alone, is enough for Blizzard to ban you.

Fact is, and it's been proven many times, Blizzard does not need an excuse to ban you. They can do whatever they want, whenever they feel like. So, even not botting on your main account, it could be in danger.

Answer is clear here: you seem to care about your main. Then, plain and simple, don't bot.

In my experience, I was banned in my main account, that never botted. Didn't even share Pc with my bots. And of course, wasn't given any answers to my appeals.

While it's rare, it can happen. Just like banning gold BUYERS. Can you handle it if it happened? If not, you should stop botting right now.

I've had 2 mains banned over the years when bot accounts have been taken out, as others have said it's rare and most of the time they just ban the bot and that's it, but they do sometimes look further and take out your main and it sucks when they ignore your appeal tickets etc. These are the risks we take though :)

Again people forget the following. Blizzard can ban any accounts at any time for any reason they want. If you do not wish to risk your main, do not bot.

I was originally gonna bot on a dummy account, and worry about sharing gold later, but decided to let my primary account go dormant and just play on my botting account. To be honest, I play this game for the experience, and I get my fun out of that. I don't need my achievements, or my mounts to enjoy it. My new botting account has been a lot of fun, even without touching my main.

I'm very-very cautious about my main account, because I have every CE tied to it, and I to replace even the original Collector's edition for WoW would cost in the thousands, so while I "experiment" with botting--I'll just keep off my main.

you never have to replace a CE account. All of the pets and achievements from CE are shared across a battle.net account. If your main gets banned, you can create a WoW2 account on the same b.net to access the CE content.

I would love to see a link to this. I've never heard of WoW selling previous Collector's Editions that did not have a digital version.

Just got a 6-months ban on main account and have never botted on it. Today just before the ban i took 500k from my guildbank to my main account and bought an item on BMAH.
