Ok I was a lurker for a long time, but personally I have lost 3 accounts in just a mere span of 2 months, and I figured I should say something. Note I have been botting since 2010, so I know what I am doing.

After the tripwire was activated on the 21st, you guys gave a window of how people logged in with hb 12 hours before or after the detection were most probably flagged. I went on a business trip overseas during that time, and was away for 4 days not logging into WOW at all, and thus there is no way for me to be detected if the detection period is really what you have stated. However this time, I got hit hard, with 2 of my last accounts down, even though I wasn't even on remotely close to the supposed tripwire detection period. And no, I haven't been using other softwares either.

As such, I was disappointed to see how the devs attributed to the loss of accounts to ''those who were caught in the 21st tripwire activation''. Because I sure as hell wasn't caught then, so why am I banned for 6 months?
I am really wary to purchase anymore of the hb products now because the cost and time spent just doesn't cut it.
Can I have a comment or something of what might have happened from the devs?

      Well,

There are FAR more stories of people who where NOT online during that time- and have not been banned..

So with out due I'm going to call BS- unless you have something other then a join date of today to back up your claim..

I my self have had doupts about what the Core devs say regarding the trip wires... But this one has a lot of evidence to back it up..

Hi there, long time botter here also, for the last few months I have given up the whole Botting and selling gold thing and purely only use CR's on accounts to gain rating to 2200 ish than sit them accounts idle and sell them off.

Now I had 2 accounts on the same BNet and both copped bans. Shit happens yeah. However the thing that stands out is that one of these account went unsubbed in early/mid January having used the bot last on early/mid January before its sub ran up. This account was also caught up in the most recent banwave.

Maybe I was flagged and not banned in the last ban wave in December yes ?. Wrong. This account was created after the last ban wave and could not of been flagged because it didn't exist.

Thoughts ?. the detection was more than just the 12 hours before the tripwire ?. Pure speculation based on personal experience.

Oh I agree with that- I think the detection pre that event was a good 72 hours.. even more.

I think the detection was and will remain outside of the scope of tripwire detection. Blizzard has a huge financial reason to go after botting. That reason being that Blizzard is now in the business of selling gold. The game time tokens are $20. Subscription is $12 - $15. Wow actually makes more cash by allowing players to "play for free" than they do for those who "pay to play". With that being said, I think Blizzard has stepped up their detection game and I really don't think the HB team can compete. HB has some great developers, but do you really think they are better than Blizzards? I don't. I think that at this point forward, botting as we knew it is dead. I hope I am wrong, but that is how I see it.

That may very well be- I would have thought the botting subs would have added up then the extra few bucks a month legit players are paying..

After most free to play players are botters... so they are making more money from us as subs

Detection is one thing, didn't get hit this time. People crying that HB is over it isn't! Just pick up and go again especially if they apparently caught what caused the major banwaves in the recent tripwire.
Only when these banwaves hit monthly or less then we are screwed.
TBH My biggest botting issue in game current Is fellow botters stalking me and other bots and reporting, trolling general chat and trade chat and msging guildies from their mains to report my bots and other bots around me from other people.
Worse thing is they made same bots on their battlenet and made shitty 6 man guilds for their 24/7 farmers
So sad that they got 0 idea about wowprogress and able to track them easy to their mains because they stupid enough not to hide their alts and use same battlenet but it makes me so mad.
White knights are annoying, but fellow botters are persistent in reporting and knowning the tricks since they bot themselves.
I can say a few accounts I've had perma banned due to reports were thanks to a 2 different users botting on my server which I wish I could name and shame but against the rules.

Follow good practices, understand blizzard bans in waves and feelings (more sometimes, less in others) and don't be so buttached about "if the tripwire did what I think it should have done".

Follow good pratices ?? there are numnuts running around on this forums telling people to

      -use a V P N
      - Use VMs.
      - use encrypted USB sticks (HAHAHAHA)
      - rename hb.exe
-dont put hb.exe in programs files (HAHAHAHA)

All of that is complete rubbish.. and dont change a thing.... infact doing things like using a public v p n or VMs increase your chance of detection.

Honestly does it really matter i read everything all day and not one time have i seen HB chime in on these forums to discuss the situations and why they havent tried other methods. Reason in being is that blizzard has made billions and hb has not blizzard has way more time and money to invest then hb. so truth in face botting was eventually going to die atleast hb. so we had a great run while it lasted but thank god for you guys that still try to do it only helps me stay right away from reinstalling wow on my pc.

Reminds me of everyone who says that WoW will die everytime it experiences a dip or a rough patch. The game simply won't die anytime in the next 20 years; as such, HB will always have a role.

i did not get banned and my last login was literally just before 12 hours, so the claims are 100% true

I wasn't online after the 15th (Friday) Jan and was caught in the Ban Wave. First account lost. Clearly the detection was at least 6 days prior to the Ban Wave or are there other reasons for a 6 month ban that I am not aware of?

If that were true, all my accounts would have been hit. None of them were banned, and have been rolling almost nonstop since they fixed the bot, mostly in battlegrounds and dungeonfarming.

I have been botting for years the only reason i kept playing wow was to bot it but i see no improving and lack of caring from hb to continue to loose accounts. You all talk about botting responsibly but truth be told blizz has a better method to detecting and refuses to give any kind of answer as to how so unless hb steps their game up i see no difference. The bot is dieing and wow will die at some point no game last forever and people that played from day one to now are sick of how childish wow has become.

What I find funny about some of these responses is that you knew the risks of botting. HB never guaranteed 100% it was going to be safe. You have to take into consideration that other players can REPORT you for botting. IMO, botting in BG's and dungeons are one of the quickest ways to get caught.

One more thing. If you aren't making enough gold to pay for subs you are doing something wrong. Make a guild on a legit account add the bots, deposit the gold into the guild bank. Rinse and repeat

yep, no one has a right to complain. if you continued botting when they said completely honestly they didn't know how it was detected you only have yourself to blame. its like continuing to use an infected needle and then complaining because you caught HIV.

if you've ever tried to use vms and vpn you'd know that its no true what you're saying.
if you know how to do it, you can avoid some bans. i dont say this method is save.

€dit: This is for multi-botters. single-botters can't lower their ban risk.

I was away from the 16th to the 23rd. I came home to a 6 month suspension. My account expired 31st and was still counting down the days I had left despite the suspension. Annoying.
