I'm using VMWare to run a Windows 7 operating system and my host operating system is Windows 8. I'm running 3 copies of WoW, 3 copies of honorbuddy and HBRelog in the VM.

For some reason I'm often seeing high CPU usage. I have an i5-3750k clocked at 4.7GHz. If I assign the virtual machine a single or two cores the clients sometimes become laggy. Assigning 3 cores fixes the problem within the VM but the VM will use anywhere from 30% CPU to 80% cpu (as viewed on the guest OS) and my host will almost always have 85%-100% cpu usage when 3 cores are allowed, even if the guest is only using 30%.

All WoW clients are on low graphics, lowest resolution with a 30 fps cap.

Does anyone have experience optimizing a scenario like this? Or had a similar problem and found a fix?

Nevermind, decided to switch to Dexpot and using 10-15% now. Highly recommend for anyone who was using a VM just to keep shit out of the way.

thats not a virtual machine like program though just hypothetically gives you more room to work with.

That's why I said it's a good option for people who are using a VM purely to keep the windows and honorbuddy stuff all out of the way and hidden. If you specifically want a VM for another reason then of course use a VM.

Dexpot is like having dual screens, you can put your wows on your 'second monitor' so you don't see it on your main. You can then switch between each screen.
VMs are HORRIBLE, only use them if you have to for safety of your wows (Not sure this is even 100% proven yet) - The CPU has to visualize the graphics or something along those lines so its a massive drain.

Does it work kinda same as win 7 or 8?

They run on your host. You can switch to an alternate desktop, setup all your bots and wow clients there etc, get it all running then just switch to your main desktop and the botting desktop is totally hidden. You can have 4 desktops so if you have dual screen you could have 2 more hidden desktops.
