a moderator said that its not a support issue.. great, but I would like more than the standard reply

i'd like to ask about how you guys are getting on with the new HB?

how goes the prep work for HB's transition?
do you have a lot of hands on deck?

*****is it already set to drop when the patch hits?***** answered thanks
*****have you had fun testing it in the ptr?**** answered thanks

I am told by your reliable source that work cant really be done on the PTR, and to expect a larger downtime.

      larger than what?

I ask this now to be in before the hundreds of queries that will flood the forum next Tuesday.

      look forward to your response

im not sure why you think asking now 'before hundreds of others ask' is better but...

most of the work will be done after 5.4 hits
the more content released by WoW, the more work to 'fix' hb
the more you ask questions, the more time is wasted cleaning up these nonsensical threads
expect at least a week of downtime. if hb comes out sooner than 7 days after a large WoW content patch, be happy.
no, you did not pay for a working copy of HB the day of wow releases.
      no, you are not special
no, you will not get special treatment
no, you will not get a better answer than the ones i have given
yes, you can play wow the hard way until hb is updated
yes, you are free to L2P while you wait
      have a nice day!!

Honestly, it'll mostly depend on how many ninja patches blizzard releases to hotfix stuff.
IIRC, when ToT came out, it took about a week, because they kept releasing a patch per day (which changes the offsets, and makes devs spend time waiting to see if warden's up to something).

So yea, it'll be either a day, or a week, or maybe even more. Pray for blizzard to get their shit together fast.

you should follow the forum rules in your sig.

how do you know most of the work will be done after the patch hits? is there nothing that can be done prior?
asking questions is my right.. i'm not sure if you are qualified to answer them.. so please enlighten me
my happiness isn't based on hbs release after a patch.. again, you are not qualified to give that advice
I didnt say I bought a working copy of HB the day of wow releases, again you probably shouldnt talk here
I am special.. there is no one in the world the same as me.. so again, you shouldn't talk here
I never asked for special treatment...again shh
your not a dev, so I don't believe your answers to be the most 'enlightened'
I don't need your permission to play wow.. shh
why are you answering something that wasn't asked?
my day is better without your replies.

just passing along personal experiences to someone who asked a few questions that have already been answered many many times. even has a guide written to address the situation.

nothing i said was said in anger or to piss anyone off. just real talk
sorry you got offended so easy. you might need tougher skin if you want to troll these forums.

      Okay so here's the thing.

Typical downtime after a small patch can be a few hours. The bigger the patch is, typically the longer the downtime will be.
Content patches are notorious for causing a few days of downtime.

We are constantly checking on Warden, seeing what it is up to.
If we feel that our product is not ready for a release, we will not release it.

No, there will be no "HB Lite" for patch days.
It would take just as much time to update an HB lite as it would the full version.
We will not make the dev team update more than they have to.

We have multiple people to work on HB, but it would only take one person to update it.

We do a lot more prep work than people give us credit for, sadly.
Everything we do is aimed at giving you the best product, even though sometimes it can take a while to get it right.

Now further trolling will result in 3 day mutes.

      To answer some questions:

There is usually a 3-6 day downtime after a major patch hits (5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4). This time can vary based on several factors like time dedicated by the staff, time dedicated to researching possible security threats, time updating offsets, time spent on testing, etc. So yeah, I would prepare right now and expect a 5 or 6 day downtime judging by the patch size (1GB++).

On top of that, there's the small hotfixes (5.4.1.21.123123) that will make honorbuddy stop working until developers update it for the newest version. These small thingies can take 4 to 24 hours to fix.

I don't really know what they do and what they don't do during the PTR, but I believe they would rather save the time knowing that some or a lot of things may change when the patch is actually released (means, different from the PTR latest build) so if they differ from eachother they would have to override the offsets twice which results in much more work for them. Though it would probably save time either way (for the users), I believe they would have to invest more time of their own to get it up faster.

As for the Staff, I know theres at least 3 programmers involved including Hawker and Apoc. Updating offsets I believe is more 'slave work' so I guess they have other people in charge of that.

When everything is set and ready to go you'll see a Beta version released. After one or two days they will make that the stable release (or possibly fix erros in Beta and then release stable version).

I hope my answers have at least cleared some of your doubts.

Please remember that some of my answers are guesses and theories based on experience and facts. Some may be correct and others may be correct to some extent.

And I also believe that asking is fine as long as it's done constructively just like you've *partially* done.

      Have a nice day.

THIS is all we can expect from anyone. We try to help others based on personal experiences. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not. We can only try.

I've been using HB on multiple characters on multiple accounts since last october. I feel like i have a pretty good grasp on what it means to be an HB User.

Big Ups to the little guys who aren't Mods who go out of their way to help others in the community.
