      Hi guys,

I'm thinking of getting into botting scene and I've spent couple of days now trawling into botting forums and reading posts.

I don't plan to bot heavily and I'm definitely not greedy. I basically would like to bot only to earn enough for token so the bot can be self-sustainable and a bit gold for my main account so I can play a bit more relaxed, don't feel pressured farming gold to pay for subs and generally enjoy playing WoW in slower pace. I plan to do gathering and running solo in instances - with the view to vendor most of the stuff and maybe selling some stuff into AH or distribute it among guildies.

So I would like an honest opinion from you guys about the following topics,
      - What is the botting scene like nowadays? I know that there are risks but is it still viable to run bots? Or is it game over?

      - Is HonorBuddy still being developed after Bossland's announcement that Blizz might be onto us? I saw the there are new releases but is HB back into full swing with development?

      - How easy and how flexible is to write/edit profiles in HB? I'm planning to create my own profiles as I'm suspecting that well known profiles allow Blizz to profile player rather quickly and easily. The more human the behaviour is, the less likely that the bot will be detected. This is my theory only - please feel free to say otherwise.

      - With the plan above, gathering and running solo instances, do you think it is realistic to earn, let's say 10-15k a week with only 4 hours a day and level 90 char - don't think I want the spend money for WoD.

Your brutal and honest opinion/feedback is appreciated.

      Cheers,
      JG

are you botting your main or a second account? if a second, enjoy the ban when you send your gold over, as it sounds like you wont be able to last long already.

      Hi Phyxios,

I haven't gone into botting - still trying to decide whether I want to get into it and which product to buy. The plan is to bot the second account. Of course sending the gold or moving the proceeds has to be done carefully.

It's interesting that you said that I won't last very long, what makes you think that?

      Cheers..

      1. It's definitely still viable to bot, but assume that the botting account will get banned eventually, it could be next week or next year. The lifetime of your botting account is 100% up to how smart you bot and how real your bot looks.

      2. Honorbuddy seems to still be in full swing for Community and Employee developers, though the ban wave 6 months ago did put a damper on it for a while.

      3. It is very easy to write your own profiles, and there are plenty of How-To and Tools to help with it on the forums.

      4. it is very easy to earn 10k-15k a week, income will be low until you learn the ropes but it doesn't take long at all.

Some botting rules to live by...

Look Human, bot during common playing hours for your time zone, not from 2 AM - 8 AM.
Mix things up, diversify your profiles and don't keep the same exact schedule everyday.
Avoid other people at all costs, you can't fully avoid real players out in the world but you can minimize it. Player reports are the things that get you banned most often.
Use a personal guild bank to store goods and gold, do not empty out your bot characters though, make the bot seem like a family member playing with you.
Use your own profiles and do not share them, this may sound selfish but it's the best way to stay safe.

The best way to make gold is often with a little botting and a lot of expertise with the market on your server, find something on your server that sells consistently and farm that without saturating the market. Try and diversify your sales, expand out to 3-4 different primary goods and make bank.

SO last night I was doing rbg's and I notice I got a whisper from a Gm stating that their some abnormalities going on to my account and login to make sure it's my account. I just think the bot still being detected and not quite hidden enough. BTW, I was using tuan. So just a side of awareness in your part. I think honorbuddy should be looking at this. I'm feeling another ban wave going on right now.

Out of curiosity were you full on botting or were you using a combat routine and moving yourself? I assume you were moving yourself and handling cooldowns etc?

I was doing all the movement using enyo and CR...CD I just pretty much set up in the CR. I mean tuan pretty much close as a human player can be.

Sounds very much like an account phising attempt. It's ridiculous to ask this: but are you sure it was an actual GM who whispered you - and not some level 1 gnome called Gámémästër? It seems too far fetched that a gm would just randomly whisper you and claim there are some abnormalities about your account.

I mean realistically they would just investigate without ever contacting - and reset your password if they need to confirm you are the owner.

It's a phishing attempt, nothing more. There is no ban wave.

Hmm never thought of that Tarathiel2 ..good point. Not that it couldnt be legit but It does seem a bit unrealistic to be banned for something like this so soon without any automation so to speak.

A blizzard employee would NEVER whisper you in game and tell you to log into a site to verify your account. This is a phishing attempt that happens all the time.

I'm sorry Tombow, but in this day and age you're an idiot if you don't see that as a straight up phishing attempt.

go for it mate, i just finished 11 lvl 100 alts with maxed out garrisons and banking on another 11!

its making me enough gold to pay for the game and still be able to have fun with it without having to sink hours of my time into menial grindy tasks

despite getting caught in the may 13 banwave, botting was one of the best decisions i have made for games like this

How do you know it was a GM? Did he give you a site to login at? Did you do it?

Thank you Cocobird, I also plan to bot just enough for tokens for the bot itself and a bit for myself, I'm not trying to be a tycoon or anything like that :)

Wolfpack, do you think this is possible with level 90 (as I'm not sure I want to spend money on WoD) and only 4 hours a day botting, mainly doing gathering and solo-ing instances?

      Cheers..

Rule 1 : if you like/love your account don't bot on it....

Rule 2 If you don't care if you lose the account then go for it...

Rule 3 decide between rule 1 or rule 2 as simple as that....
