Hello! With Gen 2 rolling out without image designs, I think it'd be a great time to see custom image functionality. I'd love to use sprites from FireRed/LeafGreen, for example. I am not too fond of the current art, and I understand huge legal issues come in to play when you ship a product out with official images. I think it'd be great to see an option to select a folder of images to use in place of the default.

The directory would not contain anything other than .png files with the pokemon's number as it's name (Bulbasaur would be '1.png', Mew would be '151.png', etc.). If an image doesn't exist for the Pokemon, it'd use the '?' image that was just implemented into PF for Gen 2.

This functionality would give users a little customization in the UI. I'm assuming the images are currently all stored in one directory. I understand code can be a lot more complex than it appears as an outsider, so please don't take any offense to this, but as a developer, I see it very possible and somewhat simple to add a config variable with the folder location - default being within the app itself.

      Thanks!

Alternatively, I would suggest to use the first 2 or 3 letters of the pokemon type name on the icon, so it would be easy for the users to distinguish the pokemons without the need to find a new icon set.

Instead of first 2 or 3 letters to identify, showing information about the pokemon when you hover over it with your mouse would be ideal.

We actually take alot of time in selecting images and pay a fair amount for the time it takes, presently we have no plans to do this as we want to keep PF lightweight as well as filled with features, however that is not to say, that something like that can never happen, it is just not in the cards at this time.

Thanks CAcove. How about being able to mouse over a PokeMon on the map and view its details? Is that something being considered?

      Gen 2 images

We seriously need the gen 2 images...nothing worse than wasting time collecting the sentret over and over again when that Heracross might be right next to it. :-(

It is a possible consideration for the future.

It will be ready when it's ready, patience is a virtue.
