To those banned in April of 2013

Hello all,

Recently everyone seems up in arms over their recent bans, and rightly so. I'd like to try and shed some light on the situation, and to do so we need information.

Ill start by saying this - I do not believe that the bot is 'detected'. Not fully, anyway. It is possible that Blizzard has some type of scripts they are running to detect players passing over certain thresholds, instead of relying on their automated systems. I hope that is the case, as normally they only keep that going for a short time before passing it back off to the auto's to keep up with.

Also, Blizzard does *not* track individual PC's and ban accounts run by them. Each account is like an individual, and they are innocent until Blizzard proves them guilty of something. Why do you think Game Masters always tell you (aside from the money) to purchase new accounts and play legit after you get closed?

Anyhow, enough rambling and on to the questions!

-Truthfully, how many hours botting were you running.
-How many Auctions were you posting per *account* per day
-How much gold were you making a day?
-Were you running a public profile, or did you make your own?
-How many nodes per hour did you gather on average?

These are a few questions that will help us to see if its just a temp *****down on Blizzards part, or if this is a new way for them to detect us.

In my case, 2/3 of my farmer accounts have been permabanned.

I was running the following schedule - 3hrs farming, 20m auctioning, 6hrs offline, repeat.
I was posting roughly 150+ auctions a day per account.
I was bringing in a little under 10k gold a day per account
I was running a private profile I made from scratch in the Jade Forest
I was gathering 100 to 150 nodes an hour.

I would say that I was running at a very high risk of being banned, but I decided to roll the dice didnt pay out this time!

During my day, there were several criteria that could get your account closed. Not talking for days on end, being online for over a certain amount of hours per day, posting too many auctions a day, killing too many of the same NPC a day, ect were all looked at and evaluated to see if you deserved a suspension. Im sure things have changed since then, but even so my accounts would have been closed.

Anyone else want to share to see if we can find a common denominator?

 

Unless someone is going to complile all these results, it's pretty pointless asking people to fill in more forms. We get banned, that's part of it. We'll never know how Blizzard does it's banning, I assume they change their methods pretty often.

I also COD alot of herbs to private buyers via the mail

I will also say I watched the bot 99% of the time as I always played xbox on the other screen when I was botting, replied to whispers, stopped the bot when I got stuck etc.

The account was 2 days old US

-Were you running a public profile, or did you make your own? Mixed. Most of my Chars ran on Private.
-How many nodes per hour did you gather on average? 200 on High Pop

 

-Truthfully, how many hours botting were you running: 24/7 when it dident error up.
-How many Auctions were you posting per *account* per day: 0 other than some startup gold i bought
-How much gold were you making a day? 0
-Were you running a public profile, or did you make your own? Public
-How many nodes per hour did you gather on average? 0

Fair to say i botted 24/7 to level up to 90 and havent started my gathering yet. Tho was suspended earlier today but got it opened and the warning removed or so they said.
My 2 other acc's are fine but i bot more safe with them

 

what ever it is, its Definitely Quest bot related.

I used teleport hacks, I used to BG 24/7 - rogue skin/gring profiles/ BG's/ Farm ore/herbs.. everything
then recently 6 months ago i got a 3 day suspention... after Quest botting for 4 days.. made it to lvl 74 on my hunter...
was using cava/kicks Questing profiles
Quit playing for awhile via money issue

April 7th came... botted for 6 days on a new ret paladin made it to lvl 72 n a half.. and then the patch came...
then i played legit for 2 full days and got to lvl 86 or 87... and got banned.

and this time i used cava's profiles up to lvl 6 then switched to kicks for the rest of the way.

auctionator/auctioneer/gearscore/titan panel/deadly boss mods/ recount/


Not sure if it was the Questing profiles.. or if it was the addons maybe interfering or something that triggered me a ban.

Honestly, after reading all the new reports in the ban section, I think that Blizzard is running a stricter set of automated suspensions.

In the past, these automated programs would run and search through logs for certain things that would identify a bot. NPH, gold earnings, gold trades to risky connections (going from main account to level 1 logged in from a Chinese IP), ect. These were generally pretty forgiving, and usually hit the heavy botters that went balls deep and ran for the majority of each day. All the light botters were spared, for the most part.

I have had 2 of 3 of my farmer accounts banned, and luckily I got them back.

*Here's why I think this is an automated program/script they are running*

After my original ban, I appealed it and started botting again. Four or five days (cant remember) after I started them up again, I got closed once more. They denied my first appeal, and then after another contact they reopened my account again.

If they had definite proof, Blizzard wouldnt allow its staff the leeway to reopen accounts if they felt it was needed. If they had a for sure 'heres an HB user, ban his ass' sign in their logs, there would be no appeals.

They are simply tightening the noose. I just hope this doesnt last for long, might have to call up a GM buddy of mine to see if he has any info for us

One of my farmers account was just temp banned, I figured on my server Ghost Iron ore could be more profitable. So I tried a private profile ( It got stuck 1-2 times). I was watching it.

-Truthfully, how many hours botting were you running. Around 10 hours a day, few 15min breaks between and 2x 1hour break.
-How many Auctions were you posting per *account* per day None on my other accounts, but my AH account has like 800 + a day
-How much gold were you making a day? 50-100k.
-Were you running a public profile, or did you make your own? Private profile from drogo
-How many nodes per hour did you gather on average? I'd say 150 nodes

 

If I had to guess, they've lowered the amount of Player Reports for auto-ban.

-Truthfully, how many hours botting were you running. 12-15 hours, sleeping = break
-How many Auctions were you posting per *account*: 0, used C.O.D
-How much gold were you making a day? 5-10k but sometimes it comes in bursts and sometimes its nothing.
-Were you running a public profile, or did you make your own? my own private profiles
-How many nodes per hour did you gather on average? 120-180 nodes, recently increased when using plugin Blacklister.

 

The number of player generated reports submited, or the number of 'right click' reports do not matter - under those reports Game Masters usually either thank the player and close the report, or go in game on each report and visually observe for a bit. Just depends on how busy the GM department is at that time.

I havent been running any of my farmers, so I dont have any other information to guess with, but I still think this is simply an automated check thats going to gather data over X amount of days and ban anyone who meets its criteria. Only time will tell!

only posted 40 acutions on netherweave cloth. One day only.

Dunno. Not much, since I was only levling.

~200 on my main account(not banned)

Was too lazy this time and I used a public one

2/2 farmers banned 4/19/13

-Truthfully, how many hours botting were you running. - 10-14 7 days a week

-How much gold were you making a day?
-Were you running a public profile, or did you make your own? - public
-How many nodes per hour did you gather on average? - bot 1 usually ended with 250-300 per session, bot 2 400+


I know my bots were banned due to my own negligence, they played together/leveled together. One was a scroll of resurrection, one was a recruit a friend. These were my very first bots, I am working on new ones and I am trying to learn any tips on playing it safer. However, I have a sneaking suspicion, a guildie of mine reported a bot of an enemy player (to be a jerk of course), and I think that might have lead in to Bliz taking a look at the server? The reported guy received a warning and carried on while 3 days later both my old trusty bot and my newly leveled one were both shot down together.

 

False. Actually a botter talked to a GM, and every GM can see how many accounts you have running.

Where do you get these fun filled facts from? How do you know so much about the inner workings of blizzards Game Masters? You'd think with all that knowledge you wouldn't get caught.

Something has seriously changed, Blizzard has modified their detection patterns or something.

Shouldn't that be : Every GM can detect how many accounts are being used per given IP-address?
Otherwise they don't have a clue, if you create various accounts under different credentials.
