A meph user thread haha but the more i read about the more it sounds freaking awesome .
Gives me a feeling of old school wow raids before the panda crap

How successful has the game been in Korea?

Blade & Soul has been received extremely well in the Korean market and immediately jumped to the top of the game charts, upsetting powerhouse games like League of Legends and Diablo III. Since its Korean launch, Blade & Soul has achieved fantastic concurrency rates with more than 230,000 fans playing at a time.

What makes this different from other Asian fantasy MMOs?

Unlike other Asian fantasy MMOs which often imitate Western concepts of fantasy, Blade & Soul draws upon the deep and fascinating mythology of a myriad of Asian cultures, which promises to bring Western players a completely new experience rich with intrigue, mysticism, and high-flying martial arts.

In the words of Art Director Hyung-Tae Kim: "Blade & Soul goes much further to infuse users' experiences and growth--the people they meet and the situations they encounter while playing the game--which we feel ties in much closer to the genre.

Will Blade & Soul incorporate any of the gameplay features that ArenaNet? is implementing with Guild Wars 2??

NCSOFT's strength is the variety of gameplay features we are able to offer across numerous titles, and we strive to make sure that each game feels distinctive. That said, trend-setting MMOs like Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul both offer innovative features that will likely be seen throughout the industry. For example, both games offer a beautiful and distinctive art style not seen anywhere else in the genre. Both games also feature an innovative "Downed" mechanic that keeps the martial arts action fast-paced and brutal.

When does the game launch in North America and Europe?

We are eagerly working to bring this acclaimed title to Western gamers, and we will launch it when we are confident it is ready.

Well there is some truth to it ..gw2 would've beaten wow easily if it wasn't for the shallow questing/story/universe and if it had a proper end-game (with or without the holy trinity but i tend to believe it was better to implement the trinity) but other then that it is better then wow in many aspects and trend setting. but ofc we won't know until the game is out and if they don't fuck .

They are even saying they don't want just to translate the texts and dialogues as they probably know the us and eu markets are very demanding because there is lots of competition

And the fact that it beat lol and d3 even in korea says something :D

      Raid: :D

Blade n soul is made by NC Soft = Lineage makers. Huge fan of that company, all their games are extremely bottable. This and Lineage Eternal are my choices for next game. Maybe Arch Age will be worth checking out as well.

Dude, just because you post a mephuser thread doesn't mean you have to act like you're on meth...

This game does not beat LoL in Korea. In fact, it doesn't even come close to LoL, at all, ANYWHERE.
It does, however, beat Diablo 3.

      In Korea;
      League is #1 with ~40%
Blade and Soul is #6 with ~4%
      Diablo 3 #10 with 1.4%

There's tons of other sources I checked but I won't link them.

Either way, game not worth learning korean for.

That's taken from their website...i didn't invent it...there is an us/eu launch sometime this year you dont need to learn korean lol

dat summoner.. to me it looks like wow with better graphics and gameplay (notice the fatso boss looks like one of naxx bosses and the landscape in summoner video looks like the first dungeon in wow which is freaking awesome but at the same time is not a wow clone)

Blade & Soul Online High Level Summoner Dungeon Gameplay CBT3 - YouTube

@exdeus i strongly disagree . story/questing looks promising it is possible to fail at some point who knows but it's not "lets kill some silly crabs ! or some small fishes"
raids could be bigger but its got phases :) . To me it looks like these devs know what they are doing
Gw2 apart for some interesting innovations is shallow .while this one (at least from the videos doesn;t look shallow at all )

P.S. check out the comments in the videos :D

Is Blade & Soul going to be a grinding game like some other MMOs?

Executive Producer James Bae said it best: "I assure you, Blade & Soul will never run out of content to keep players engaged in the game. This game will not be a repetitive grindfest."

In any case . if the questing/story dungeons / raids will be at least as good as old wow raids , with this graphics , gameplay and innovations many will take it over wow without even thinking twice.

If it's taken from their website they're full of crap. Devs who are full of crap usually make crap game. Jay Wilson - Diablo 3 as reference.

It is possible their site is not updated . there isn't an update since december on their us/eu site
They seem to know what sucks and what is good in online games nowadays which puts them in another league then blizz ( d3 - devs still clueless after 1 year lol what to do with the game , and wow their answer is grindfest instead of more often game/content/quality updates ) but we will see if they succeed in executing what they said .
First look is that great graphics , innovative gameplay and good story. Only issue that i see is that these kind of games tend to be shallow lack depth but from what i read /saw doesn't look that way

Until you can play the game its just conjecture on your part as to if its any good, to be honest I'll reiterate my statement its Korean so Korean = Grind fest.
Of course a guy who is going to make cold hard cash off people for buying it isn't going to admit to it being a grindfest but that's the path nearly all MMO's take in the end.

Until you can play the game its just conjecture on your part as to if its any good

Well yeah i've already said that . but you can also tell a couple of things just by looking at the korean vids

      great graphics - check (>wow)
great/interesting story - check (same or better then wow)
great/interesting/innovative gameplay - check (> wow or simply smth completely new and fresh which is needed on the mmo scene)
Unknowns - end game - if its any good
      - how shallow are the game mechanics and the game universe
But simply for the fact that they recognize what is good/not good in online games makes me think they are on the right track . but as said before depends if the execution is on par with the talk :) .
I also see no reason for them to lie . they will be overcome with so many bad reviews and it will be bad for the business in the end .

I'll reiterate my statement its Korean so Korean = Grind fest.

D3(and im not intentionally trying to bash it but it is so easy to pick on it :) ) is not Korean and it is the ultimate grindfest masked by "depth of combat" with an end game of making gold and selling on rmah (which peps are doing instinctively or not ).
As a bit of offtopic what makes me lol even more is that the d3 devs think the problem is the itemization(aka they are clueless as opposed to these korean guys) which they are trying to fix (i mean yeah itemization could be better but i wouldn't go as far as to saying it is broken - they can easily fix this by just adjusting the drop rates) but it's far from being the root cause . the root cause is the mindless grindfest which starts after finishing normal and ends on paragon 100 apart from ubers (which is another failure because of no rewards)
So there you have it huge company = Blizz , probably tons of money into making it , Diablo name (which was huge if not everything :) ) and the result ? the most hated game in the gaming history
