I don't bot but just sell gold that I make on the auction house. I had been selling gold for 7 months now and I woke up today to an account closure notification from WowAdmin.

I don't believe I did anything different in my gold selling ways the day before the ban.

What would be a proper/successful way to appeal this ban and get my account re-opened? Or is there one? Any insight or help would be appreciated

Here is the email that I received :

World of Warcraft -- Account Closure Notification -- Exploitative Activity Found

      ***Notice of Account Closure***

      Account Name: xxxxxxxxx

Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy

This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Even if this is the result of account sharing, the account owner can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment.

We've found the above behavior is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: Impact of Buying Gold - Shop - World of Warcraft

The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at Blizzard Entertainment:Blizzard Legal Documentation. Note that additional Terms of Use violations may result in more severe actions against this account, up to and including permanent closure.

If you believe your account was compromised, please go to the following website https://us.battle.net/account/support/account-recovery.html. Our support staff will assist you as soon as possible. If you are unable to access your account due to the password being changed, please visit our Login Support site here: https://us.battle.net/account/support/password-reset.html

You were just unlucky at that time i suppose, you sell gold, you automatically expect a ban, there isn't an actively successful route to take to over-turn a ban relating to gold-selling, hence the strategies/math/algorithm used to evade it.

Yeah bad luck is my guess or something I did in the past few days set off a red flag. Or I had been in a 'watch que' of some sort and they caught me red-handed.

I wasn't using any bots, I just think that this community, if no other, would have knowledge on this type of issue

They said in the email that even if the account was being shared, that I could still be held liable. That was one idea I had to use in my appeal, but I guess that wouldn't work

Did you use something to disguise your IP? You could always plead ignorance about what's been happening on your account and claim you were hacked... harder to prove if you've been doing it a lot, though. Was this right after a big sale?

I didn't mask my ip, and it was after a few small-regular sales.

I'm thinking of pleading some kind of ignorance but I don't know what to say yet exactly.

      I'm going to appeal tomorrow

Gold selling ban is almost unbaned. But you don't lose anything trying to appeal.

Well what kind of method you have been using to sell the gold?

Are you selling to a private seller or a site? Guild bank or f2f.

More info will help to tell you if you did something wrong.
