I have a question about the HB community. I started botting around summertime last year after playing wow for about 4 years. My botting career started in the middle of MoP. When I first started botting there were LOTS of developers producing lots of profiles for various things. It looks like a lot of the community devs have left and picking have been pretty slim as far a profiles go. My question is, is this normal? At the end of the xpact people just get bored and leave? Will there be a flood of new/returning devs after the new xpact? Is this what happened with wrath, mop, etc? thanks.
I'm a DBA and I spend most of the day coding TSQL, perl, shell, and powershell. Every time I tell myself to write some profiles for the things i want to do with HB, I think about all the coding I do for work and throw up in my mouth at the thought of coding for fun. I'm jaded.
There is a number of us old coders that are working on new projects and things again because of the ability to sell again. As botanist said the time required to create these profiles is absurd. even the small profiles (talkin say a hundred lines at most) will take you say 1-3 hours to code... then take you a week of running multiple bots to get the thing perfect. Then there is the absurd projects that most of the insane build aka botanists 40k lines.... kicks questing (before he was a dev) akana FPSWARE the list goes on and on and on of people that built truely amazing products but they want compensated for the countless hours of effort put into it. But as I said there are a number of us that have came back to do new profiles and thing for you guys and us soley because of the buddystore.
Like Botanist said, HB has become more streamline, in that it has incorporated many features previously created by other developers. I haven't had any issues finding a profile/plugin for wanting to do something in WoW, with Honorbuddy; you just need to know how to search. Just like WoW, HB devs see popular features that third-party devs have created and are incorporating the whole feature or parts of it to make it easier for us users. As to your question, I do feel that the creation of new profiles is to slow down, due to preparation for WoD, or the simple fact that nearly everything has already been done.
