      Hey guys,

I'm looking for very well informed community member's input on whether or not I should get into botting. I've always played WoW with a lot of dedication and as a result my account has extremely accomplished things such as Scarab Lord, realm first titles, and many feats of strengths. I now find myself wanting to distance myself from the long grinding times associated with the game and as a result I am considering botting. I would be using it for levelling professions, characters, garrisons, and other character related things. I would not be using it to gather a lot of items and impact the economy with these items. I don't know if this makes me less likely to receive a ban? From my description of bot use, how likely am I to be banned? And how difficult is to get unbanned? I have a clean slate at the moment. If anyone would be kind enough to give me their insight I'd really appreciate it.

      Thanks and all the best

      My brief response:

If you aren't stupid / greedy, it's pretty difficult to get banned. Bot reasonably, ie not 24 hours straight. Don't leave it farming for 10-12 hours straight. Simple stuff like that will pretty much completely avoid being banned. I, too, have server first titles and use the bot.

The risk is VERY low (if you aren't stupid) -- however, a risk STILL exists that you can get perma banned. And if you do get banned, do not expect it to be overturned / unbanned -- for at least a long period of time. Think >1 year.

I've botted for years, leveled 8 chars to 90, maxed gathering professions, etc and never had any issues.

Tired/lazy from working all day - but hope that helps.

Thank you very much for your reply Vizion. More insight is more than welcome too (Yes, you other viewers)! My next question may seem juvenile since I'm uneducated with bots but I'm gonna ask it nonetheless: Are there profiles or such things which would enable me to leave my character level up battle pets for a few hours? What I'm hoping to be able to do is leave my account on and unattended for a few hours. I was thinking 4-8 hours. Is this risky?

Yes you can do battle pets, however it does take some time to setup if you're new. You have to do a bit of research to get battle pet lvling working. Some zones are kinda buggy, so you gotta find a zone which works before you bot 4-8 hours unattended.

Thanks for your replies Madcatz and funkv. I'm definitely fine with tinkering around to get the system running smoothly. Funkyv, can I perform most of my research within this forum? Madcatz, I'm not too concerned about the price but thanks informing me there's some options. The main cost I'm worried about is losing my account from a ban, but from Vizion's comment I'm going to assume that if I bot within reason it's extremely difficult to get banned. The more comments the merrier. If anyone else would like to contribute their 2 cents about botting efficiently and unnoticed that'd be great.

Some tips from a long time user.

      Communicate with players while botting
Don't bot in situations that force your character to interact with other players (IE PvP or dungeon grinding)
Don't amass huge amount of materials then undercut everyone on the AH
      Don't sell gold
Don't bot multiple accounts from the same IP (I know you can but definitely adds risk also all accounts be compromised from one being banned)

My biggest tip though is monitor your bot I know it sucks to say because you want to be able to go do things but a great way to avoid reports and eventual bans will be by paying attention to your bot.

Risk of getting banned is not as low as people suggest. Whenever your bot gets stucked people will report you, and they dont care if you botted for 30 min or 12 h before you got stucked.

I suggest to monitor the bot. Personally I level my toons with a rotation Bot (Enyo), choose movement, targetting, facing, then running into questmobs, lean back and watch the fight. rinse and repeat. It´s relaxing if you dont have to punch the buttons all the time and you can play longer, till you are tired.

Garrison I thing there will be a profile someday and you are "safe", cause no one can see and report you.
