[RESOLVED] Improved Mount Support, PLEASE! I have noticed that while leveling boosted characters and even new characters, despite having the Purple Swift Wind Rider available, it is never an option for using as a mount. It would be absolutely superb if Bossland would add support for these mounts even for ground transportation. It takes much longer to level from 90-100 without a ground mount, but we have mounts that could easily be used for ground travel. I have noticed that druids will not use "Travel Form" for ground mount. Characters will not use the * Swift Wind Rider for ground mount. Please help us get better mount options so we can specify which we would like to use. I feel it should be permitted for us to select any mount we want for ground or flying; if a user is incompetent or ignorant to the fact that their ground mount cannot be used for flying, that is on them. Could we expect this to be included in a patch release at some point in the near future?
ground mounts are ground mounts and flying mounts are flying mounts. theres a reason why they're separate and not already in some mismatch crap-shoot for people to select whatever.
@CodenamG: However, most flying mounts can be used as a ground mount without any issues. Likewise some ground mounts can be used as a flying mount. Per my previous post, if your only mount is the * Wind Rider or * Swift Wind Rider, you now have a ground mount for WoD and a Flying mount for Pre- WOD. However, take the Onyx Panther or one of the other jeweled cats. It is listed as a ground mount, but in fact is a flight mount as well. Your logic of ground mount is ground flight is for flying makes sense from a UI perspective. But the logic is not sound in a pragmatic way, as flying mounts can fly and ride. Even if you remove which ground mounts can take flight, that doesn't answer at all why a flying mount cannot be used for ground. To my knowledge, all flying mounts can be used as ground mounts.
Hi, Shat, CodenameG is spot on. How Honorbuddy handles mounts is not an arbitrary decision. This article provides some insight into some of the problems involved: Honorbuddy:HelpDesk:Configuring Mounts We are unwilling to publicly discuss the design, and set of considerations, that go into this issue. If you are unhappy with the Honorbuddy design, you may write a plugin that alters the behavior accordingly, and live with the consequences of your decisions. Ground mounts are incredibly cheap, and easy to obtain. What is the resistance to using a bona-fide ground mount? cheers, chinajade
@chinajade, I am not being resistant. I am asking questions. The document you linked provides a good reference, as the interaction with the mesh itself wasn't in my head when initially posting. Appreciate the feedback.
