Sarcasm? F2P has never nor will it ever be a good thing. Except for kids I guess that could care less about a game and it's community, integrity, -and long term health.

My thoughts? Thank you... I was torn between buying an interim wow account, or returning to wildstar or ffxiv.

I heard they dumbed wildstar down a lot anyhow so that coupled w f2p just knocked her off the list. Now do I return to wow with an interim account or do I ffxiv it up.

Neither is making me feel particularly happy.. Ffxivs graphics but wow has me friends and guild. Bad times.. Bad times.

Some day the twitter generation will get over the kneejerk reaction of "F2P=badthing". It's such a childish mentality. Rift has done well enough under it's F2P tag with content and expansions coming frequently under the F2P tag. SWTOR has also had success as a F2P game. You can hate on the particular methods by which they utilize F2P, but it is not 2004 anymore and F2P does not automatically equal a dead game.

Also, how in god's name is a game's integrity affected by going F2P? If anything it would be POSITIVELY affected, because the company is saying "we believe our game is good enough for you to play for FREE and you pay us back by investing in our costume hats and potions as you see fit". I don't even understand the opposing thought process.

I'm not sure how Wildstar has been "dumbed down". Unless you mean the same process that Blizzard uses just about every patch (including the most recent hotfixes to Blackhand) which gradually make content easier over time. Considering the tiny population and even smaller raid population, they are trying to get people into the content. Doing it without creating an LFR snorefest is a win in my book.

Wildstar going F2P is without question a GOOD THING. It will bring more people and give a decent game with fixable flaws a chance to survive that it otherwise would not have. Even the most ignorant consumer would understand that more options is a good thing.
