Because they have balls - really big ones! And it's about fucking time. Imagine how much income Blizzard is giving up by doing this. Thousands and thousands of people probably got banned. Do the math.

But why are they doing this now?
Blizzard lost nearly 1/3 of their subscribers since the release of WOD. They are getting desperate. It might be a tactical move to prove to any court that Honorbuddy indeed was responsible for loosing some of those subscribers.

It might also be because they want to put Honorbuddy out of business. They tried doing that using the court systems but failed. The best way to strike is hitting the Honorbuddy customer base rendering Honorbuddy useless to them. This is probably the most plausible reason.

But is what Blizzard is doing legal?
Basically - this has to be tested in a court house. Personally I cannot be arsed to do this. That would be a massive waste of money which I could easily put to better use. But I can tell you this: I doubt that they have collected the data they used to ban people in a legal way. That's why Blizzard keep giving everyone the standard "contact our legal department" response when that data is requested. I even doubt that Warden has anything to do with it.

A question for the Honorbuddy team
Do you in any way store or log any data related to the bot when it's running? IP address, realm, character - anything? Blizzard could indeed have hired or hacker or bribed someone at Bossland (I seriously doubt that) to supply data which Blizzard could match with their logs. If for example the buddy authentication server store which IP address a bot is running and when it's not hard for Blizzard to match things.

The botting is not the major issue for Blizzard. The lack of content is!
The botting itself is not source, it is result of the trivial, repetitive and boring actions, they force us to perform every day, so we get noticeable progress ingame.

The subscriber loss is nothing new or surprise for Blizzard or any game company, it just part of the game! There is plenty of customers, which try the new content for up to month, then move away, and there is no chance for Blizzard to lure them more than 2-3 weeks per major patch like the upcomming 6.2 or a month or two for expansions.

Blizzard was always going to the court for any individual or company, which by Blizzard's view would harm their pockets in any way, no matter what. And the past experience is indeed almost 100% positive on their end. Probably just because they were always initiating lawsuits in the US, and as-we-know, the US legal system do support the corporations on first place, then the government, then everyone else.

The above is not only highly unlikely, but Blizzard for no single reason could legally request that, but if they do attempt to support illegal actions in this way, they are risking a lawsuit storm vs the whole Blizzard company, which could be the end of Blizzard. So no - they are not so mindless or desperate.

Keep in mind, that WoW even if the most popular and profiting product in the Blizzard portfolio, is just one of the products, they still have several other games, which are very popular and with nice income too! Not to mention the new games, announced or on, which are yet to get their hoax till the official launch and get profit out of them.

I bought a new account and enjoy it more. It cost 50$ via Blizzstore.
I will transfer toons around when my main account is back, which is another 25$.

double win for Blizzard. I would do the same if I were them.

Even with RU workaround for Europe servers, a full account is 26-28$ already (No 12-15$ anymore), and tons of players already obtained them!

Er....stupid question. But how do you buy another account?
Don't you need to buy a new copy of every expansion so far (vanilla, tbc, wotlk, pandaria and warlords?)
      taht's like..around 80 euros or something?

      Thanks for the info.
Can i buy another wow "account" on the same account i had? I believe that's the only way i can merge them later, right?
Also, the achievements, etc, that i would get on the new account would be transfered to the locked account once i merged them?

U can merge then whenever u want as long as ALL the details match the old account.

And yes u can buy another copy on your 2nd wow.

some say your account can be flagged then, if you bot again, you can get a ban sooner...

dunno about that. Its certainly easier for them to perma u if they see you allready been banned before for botting.

i think you lose achieves on one of the accounts, if you make a new and merge em, not sure.

Look for randy run. google it. Cheapest i found for first version. 11.78

I used something else for wod, cant remember, but was 29,99

well, i'm not planning on botting anymore. I only used it for fishing/archeology, and truth be told, after 6 months benched, i'm just going to leave those 2 profs unattended...too boring to care about it. So i'm not worried about getting caught botting again.
Hmm..what if i upgrade my starter account? That could work..i think.
Been googling it some, it seems the only way for chars to be able to be transfered is if they are under the same bnet account. That would be doable. Create 1 char, do stuff on it, after 6 month tranfer it to main account. I believe whatever achievs i do on that new char will be transfered as well... I guess :/

The battle.net account is separate from the WoW account attached to it. Achievements and collections are bound to the battle.net account, not the WoW account.
So if you make a new WoW account under your battle.net account, you still have access to all your achievements and collections. So you still have all your mounts, pets, and heirlooms, but not your characters, mail or gold.

Well, it's no problem. All of my characters were alliance, and i've been delaying forever in creating a horde toon and farm the mounts from the horde side and whatnot. Also, i wanted to start pvp'ing (since i only did pve so far), and it happens that alliance just SUCKS on pvp (at least on my server it did). So i might be a good oportunity to kick myself into starting a new toon for pvp only, and then transfering it to my main account.
I was just worried that whatever achiev i would get on the new toon (say, 250k hkills per example) would be deleted once i transfered the char.

Also, anybody knows if you RAF, both players get the mount? or just the veteran player?
      Thank you

      Err..i beg to differ.
Just contacted Blizz (the call thingy avaiable on the website)
They assured me the RAF will work on a new license. It doesn't matter if it's on my old bnet account or not.
So i can just buy another account on the same Bnet and RAF away :)

I think you misunderstood what he meant. RaF does indeed only work with a fresh battle.net account and I mean account as in WoW1/WoW2 etc. Not the complete battle.net itself. You can make a new account under that same batle.net and have one of your old accounts RaF it. Although, this must happen within a month of creating the new account. Otherwise it won't work.

      Probable misunderstood him, yea :)
As long as you have a new account (WoW 1/Wow2/etc etc) on your old bnet account, it will work. But, as you pointed, must be within 30 days of account creation.

Yes in my country I can legally represent my self, no questions. but what i ask is not so simple. since the account remains the property of blizzard and you subscribe to use the service what good will obtaining or having destroyed all information on me that blizzard have? unless they flagged my account prior to a sub payment which then opens a possible (stress minimal possibility) reimbursement of a few lousy bucks. sure i could claim all the costs if i won but meh is it worth it?
well lest see if my true intention is to get my account back before the 6 month temp ban then I can forget that I'm angry and don't just want vengeance thus ignoring blizzards legal costs if i won (which could and most likely would backfire onto me) and have a tiny tiny tiny chance of them being fined if they somehow breached a privacy law (still I get nothing out of that either) and since I'm not a gold farmer aka someone trying to make real money from a game i can forget about any financial benefit from future LOL "undetectable bots" (no such thing) not my self but it seems some people pray might be the out come if I obtained all required information etc.... Soooo...

from what i can gather most if not all of us got banned withing a few weeks of the last time botted (assuming no one here lies, even if we cheat) and not longer. so its possible there are a few who got flagged before they paid the new sub, but even then. I was paying for the account continuing to agree to the conditions knowing full well I was breaking the rules (saying i didn't know lol ignorance wont win this for me). I do wonder if they could turn that around onto me, maybe; maybe not. in the big picture of "what do i get from all my troubles?" it simply doesn't matter, if i get my account back i guess i would also have my game time updated since that is what has happened on major expansions back in the day of "unplayable for x days" etc.

Even if blizzard give me a refund of my current sub, they have no obligation what so ever to provide me service. just like EA they can kill a game or service when ever they like (you don't even need to hack). so even if they reimburse me they will never be ordered to unban my account(s); doing so is comparable to a judge saying that i as a business owner must provide services to that guy and enter a contract with said person even tho they previously broke said contract... yeaaaa.. .. I might get a loan, not pay it back, and have a court rule they must provide me the services of giving me a loan, when it works ill just keep doing it.

As for the anti privacy stuff such as spying, HAS NO ONE HEARD OF EA (lol origin)... many have lost full accounts with 100's of games because they hacked\aim botted in 1 single game... EA to my knowledge is yet to lose an appeal (for the record i do my part and refuse to buy any game on origin or created by EA). fair enough ban use of said game but not entire accounts. Put it this way if this game was on Origin we would have all just lost every game we own under said account "permanently"! yes that's hundreds in some cases thousands of dollars and i have yet found 1 case won against origin\EA in privacy or the unbanning of accounts.

Also unless ordered by a court i don't see how blizzard will have to give out information about HOW they caught me, or any of there automated systems. to have any chance at getting said info it WILL need to goto court (yes costing me real money, could I even claim expenses?). since said information WOULD be deemed sensitive and may do harm the the company.

At the end of the day anyone banned for botting should man up and accept that they knew full well when they botted that they may get caught and banned - we accepted this upon botting, even if the generally consensus was "I thought i would a get 72 hour ban or something", we are simply lucky that the entire wow account wasn't closed.

      TL:DR
      - I dont see anyone getting access to an account ahead of scheduled. no one owns a world of Warcraft account apart from blizzard. I'm sure telling someone they must provide services would be against alot more laws then i could count on 1 hand.
      - just look at what happens on origin - EA's version of B.net. - origin
      - basically i cheated in a game where the rules where clearly stated. The time and effort i would have to put in fighting my TEMP BAN will not get me access to my old account. I have accepted that I can not force anyone one to provide me services and any attempt in this particular situation only has a tiny chance to hurt a huge company whom i done wrong by...

P.S GL to any of you with making honest attempts at getting your account re activated and sorry to those of you who simply botted a few levels on alts etc... haha gold farmers and pvp bots etc!

TL:DR no court is going to order a company to sell me services. i can buy another account, return in 6 months, or find a new game.
