----> Ban wave FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone

Can the devs let us know if it's safe to use Rebornbuddy? I have a friend who claims he was suspended last night while using. He said the reason in the email was for botting and it happened after the maintence when the banwave came out. He had only recently started using Rebornbuddy.

They have a ban wave almost every week.

I don't see many banned threads on the forums.

If it was RebornBuddy, where are they?

The banwaves are almost exclusively RMT, with some hackers added in. There's very few ban/suspended threads on these forums, so if your friend was suspended for using RB, he must have been doing something pretty stupid.

There are some FFXIV bots that are extremely prone to getting banned. For example, there is a bot (not RB) that ports the character underground from one mining node to the next. It may have seemed like a good concept for a bot, but it was actually a guaranteed ban if caught. When a regular player clicks on a mining node, they may accidentally click on the botted character mining from inside the rock. When they see that character hidden inside the rocks at each mining node, they record it and report it. Then, that botter is banned.
That same bot will also port a premade team through dungeons skipping all of the trash mobs, and even some bosses. This seemed like a great concept for farming a specific boss that drops a specific item. However, Sony eventually caught on that people were running dungeons in a much shorter time than possible, so now accounts are flagged when a dungeon is finished too soon. Then, the botter is banned.
So, I do not doubt that there are many people getting banned every week. But, I don't see anyone missing from the RB forums. :)

^ This. Because RB does not support (and hopefully will not support) "hacks" such as teleporting, there's much more security/reassurance opting for RB over some competitors who may be far more closely tracked because they offer teleporting and speed hacks.

SE has said on occasion that botting is not the worst thing that could happen, and that you shouldn't tell anyone about it if you are; however, teleporting and speed hacking circumvents the entire goal of the game and, in my opinion, should be handled with an iron fist. Those in it for maximizing profits for RMT would disagree, and I'm fine with that as they're not necessarily looking at playing the game as intended and have their bottom line to consider - you can't necessarily fault them for using such methods to satisfy their needs.

Either way you slice it, as far as I can see it, RB is safer in general to any competitors who offer literal "hacks" in their features.

RB is in a spot right now where most of it's activities go unnoticed, while there's more noticeable bots out there. From my own personal experience, I can attest that RB is quite safe because of this. People rarely have contact with the bot doing something obviously bottish, mostly since there's no Dungeon and PvP support yet, which is where people would have direct personal contact with the bot.

It's as safe as using a bot can be. Remember the rule, don't bot on anything you aren't willing to lose.
