The animated gif says it all:

      1. Bot on a heavy populated realm.

      2. Download and start this new cool profile

      3. Take off your seat for 1 hour or more

      4. Get enough reports over your head, while stuck in an infinite loop.

      5. Moan on the forums that Honorbuddy is detected again!

Never got banned either before banwave, wasn't really cautious either about my botting. Just not downright stupid. I got caught in the 13/5 banwave though, which was definitely caused by detection. But had been botting relentlessly on my main account since mid MoP.

Very true I have seen a few of those on my realm too over the weekend. Not certain why after so many attempts the bot doesn't just stop trying to get to the coordinates but that's just its coding I suppose. My Dungeon team hasn't had any problems I launched them into action shortly after the ban wave. Last group lasted for years but I would of hated to see their server logs lol would of been a really really really long read. Only thing I lost in the ban wave was really the toons all their income was in a GB which my accounts that weren't banned still had access to so like 4 days to rebuild new toons and they've been running flawlessly ever since

this is not fault of the botters the quest profiles should be coded better to not do those wrong errors

While this may partially hold true the botter did choose to run the profile without watching it run first to figure out what parts of it had been poorly scripted. The fix can be established from 3 places. The profile creator, the bot creator, or a plugin that monitors it and sees that while attempting to get location x,y the bot had hit the same coordinate like x times.

Well.. it's not the profiles that control the movement... That is the mesh files that the bot downloads. so it's not really the profiles fault, it's the navigation mesh.

I have no clue how these things works, but I do know what you said is true.
So.. Is there any way to 'improve' the mesh files for certain areas?

This is nothing, related to meshes and navigation at all.

The bot was obviously trying to reach the bird on the pillar in the top-left part of the GIF.

This is most likely related to Combat Routine, failing to black list certain NPC, since it cannot reach it in a timely manner, or profile, falling into infinite loop.

Usually the problems here are complex enough:

Both the profile writer and the profile user should ensure the profile is working properly before leave it unattended for hours.

Even if the profile writer test it enough, it is not possible to test it with all the popular and unpopular Combat Routines out there, on every 11 character classes.

The possible behavior of single profile, combined with different combat routine is always unexpected - The only way to ensure synergy is the testing!

      Small update:

Around 1 hour after shooting this GIF, I passed by the same zone and guess what? The bot was still tanking the pillar there.

You seems to dodge the previous line:
Maybe I am totally lost, but no one just start a never tested profile and take off, before check if it does run for him/her?

Which is all fine and dandy, but make sure that whatever you're running is atleast properly scripted before you leave your keyboard is the point people are trying to get across here.

Trust me, they are. Many HB users are type of "press hit and leave" only small number of users are really know how bot is working and what you should and shouldnt do.

You can see it every downtime - "Why HB is not working after patch!!!!!!"

I think most players get reported from Pvp server, horde killing them over and over again. From my experience it's best to bot on normal server. I mainly monitor my bot 70% of the time and mostly I'm sitting on the computer also doing other things and glance once in a while to check on how it's doing. Never leave your bot afk.

I botted on Ravencrest-EU, it's a PvP server but with 98% of the population being Alliance. So botting in horde exclusive areas was fantastic, noone was ever there.

I am one of those who can say that I've never been directly detected while botting because HB was detected.

I had an account in vanilla that got banned, but that was because I was fishing Deviate Delight for 18 hours a day for many weeks.

Prior to that ban, I rarely or never use my bot to farm anything (mining, herbalism etc.), and I use it carefully when I bot in 'public' (ie. not doing instances and\or legacy raids).

The only time I got a warning, was when I tried to gain some money from mining in Cataclysm. I used a custom profile, ran it for a few hours for a few days, and then got a warning through email.
And I'm assuming it was because I got flagged by reports.
