Download Meshes (way to force all the meshes get downloaded)

this would happen too if u download them at once ...
the handling is perfect ... hb downloads them ONE time when it's needed ... the second time HB needs the meshes they are there...
It doesn't do any difference if u wait NOW for Hours with your speed, or if u wait for hours when u need them ... u will be waiting for hours with your speed!!! it's your speed not a HB problem in this case.

 

well... its better to have all actual meshfiles already downloaded over night maybe, than wanting to start the bot... and then see that you do not got the mesh files.. this happened to me today... reached 68 with a toon, traveled to northrend... and then the S**t began... "downloading mesh... downloading mesh... after 2 hours i canceled hb and played another game quiet annoyed.

 

You could make a compromise: if you need to download the meshes of an area, download them and then in a separated thread download the others of the same zone. In this way if you're questing in a zone, you'll need to wait only for the first piece, then you'd download the other meshes in background while the bot is running. BTW changing meshes often, should we wipe our cache, or is there any kind of check, such as asking for the header only of the files looking at "Last modified" field?

 

When are you going to update the mesh files for the wargen starting zone, I hate that place

 

Just a thought, this may or may not help :

If you have a high level toon, how about making a profile with hotspots in the zones in which the profile will progress. Then you could leave your high level toon to run round and download the meshes over night.

Not ideal, but it might help you save some down time whilst you are monitoring the bot.

 

Make a SVN for meshes?
then u can update them when u feel for it or need to.

Then we would get the side benefit of the World Explorer Achievement along with it... Sounds like a Win to me... ;-)

 

Seems like a good idea to have all meshes collected into one RAR or ZIP.
If the HB decide to update the meshes, fine, HB will force download any outdated ones and overwrite them.

 

Same time as the flying boat in Deepholm...

 

Localized would be nice. Less sitting there downloading + its nice to have the security knowing that you have a solid copy of meshes, because sometimes they change and they don't always make a better mesh because of it... So being able to revert makes sense... And localized copies would enable that. I don't see the big deal here...

 

Having a mesh for this would require it to stop at a single point for some given amount of time. The flying boats do not stop, so therefore cannot be meshed (in a way that honorbuddy can use/understand)

As you say. If we could have HB check if the newest tile_set for a zone or continent is the newest, and if you would like to download the whole continent/newest tiles add a button. If there is no newer version just keep using the Local copy (which we already do if we already downloaded the tiles)
