I've been wondering this. Botting is never really safe, but what I mean is it more risky than running only one instance on each computer. Blizzard can surely see if you're running more than one account on the same IP address, but can't they also see if you're running them all on the same computer? Do you think they also can see if you're running WoW in the background? I know that ICC, an online chess community, has a client that reports back if you keep toggling between background and forefront between the turns, to cheat using a chess program. The only time I can see this being legit is when multiboxing. The reason I'm asking is I've got two accounts now, one is my main account the other is purely for botting, though I bot on both when I can. I've got two computers, so so far I've just run one account on each just in caste, but many times I'd prefer to run both on the laptop so i can monitor both more closely than only with BuddyCenter.

I run multiple wow from the same computer but have separate installs of WoW. If you open your wow file and go to wtf/account you will see a log of all characters that have used that install. 2 accts might be alright, but if you have 3 or more all doing something different and a GM decides to look at your acct, I'd say you're kind of screwed.

Its somewhat of a theory that is based on experience. I had 1 folder and was running two wows, I submitted a ticket and was expecting a reply on the acct I submitted the ticket. Was afk, came back and the GM tried on the original acct then whispered me on the other one. I don't know how else they could have known.

Anyway, 2 installs is my advice :p

      Anyone else supports this theory?
I find it unlikely, I don't think GM's have access to any file including WTF on your computer, I think all they can access is server side logs, I think all they can get is simply info like Computer Hardware ID, MAC address etc.
I've opened up a ticket once while I had 3 or 4 more instances running from the same install, and I had no problem at all.

Then alternatively IP address/MAC is how they knew, and a lot of people don't think they do that either. Its just what I decided to do after that :)
