Im considering running a botting program for my World of Warcraft account, and was curious if I were to run this program only while i was physically in front of my computer. Keeping an eye on it nearly 100% even responding to any messages guildies and or random people sending me tells, or even if a GM whispered me and was able to respond. With this scenario could i essentially be safe from bans?

First time ever posting in a forum so hopefully I did this right

      Thanks again.

There is always a risk, and experienced botters will often say 'don't bot what you can't afford to lose'.
I think the majority of bans do come from 2 sources - a) player reports and b) statistical trips (e.g botting for 30 hours straight)

I personally do bot on a much loved account, but I accept the risk that I could lose it.
But yeah, monitor it closely, and don't get greedy! :)

If you have a second account, I'd recommend trying out Honorbuddy on that first to get a feel for how it all gets set up etc, and when you start on your main account, begin somewhere out if the public eye (I.e. not the middle of a city)

Good luck & hope you have as much fun as I have for the last couple of years!

i haven't been here long but i agree with what Soulbound said with the 2 sources. most people that say they are gunna report you dont and the people that do are the people that are farming legitly so they do it to kill the compitition.

in my opinion, questing bot is the most safest. You dont run into that many people nor do people really care if they see a botter doing quests because you're really not hurting anything.

      Welcome to the community.

You can never be 100% safe from bans. However, the more present you are the more you do lower risk simply because you'll be there to keep it from being stupid in a no stupid zone. I monitor my bots nearly all the time. I used to even pause them when I went to the bathroom! Never bot on any account you aren't emotionally prepared to lose. I started on a Vanilla only beat up box I got off eBay for $5. Once I had a strong feel for how the bot behaved, it could and could not do, and which profiles I could count on I could then make an educated decision about whether or not to risk my beloved accounts. I now bot to some degree or another on all of my accounts. If you go this route make sure that you don't connect the practice account with your others in any way otherwise the shield provided may be pierced.

Also its not just a matter of presence that makes the difference, some botting behavior is simply riskier than others. The more you do to make the bot appear human the safer you are and this includes playtime and activity type. No human player gathers herbs in a single zone for 6+hours without a bathroom break. (OK, maybe I did when I had the flu but that's really unusual.) The more comfortable you get with the tools available, including some really amazing community created extensions, the more you'll be able to customize and improve your own botting experience.

Exactly, make your bot look Human and you should be okay, I only got banned once, 72h warning because I left it farming far too much time without even looking at it (was sleeping tbh XD), since then played safe and been botting for like a year flawlessly :D

Mate just find a way to sleep and when wake up find you are rich.
Way for that is to have backup accounts. Just bot 1 month and buy another acc. After that bot another 1 month and buy another HB. Third month split money- for a beer and another, third account. Fourth month spend all on beer. And like that in circle.
What is botting? You can allways bot for your own needs. To buy RAF, game card, gear, mount and other. For that you can use bot for 3 hours each day. If you wish to have gold for some other things you need HC botting. In that way risk is big. This is a BOT, if you supervising it just farm by your own hand. You have a lot pluggins for monitoring and use them. If you use bot just to make gold for yourself it is very safe.
Most important thing is: Doesnt matter what are you gathering. Every ores/herbs have buyers. For some of them you just need time for selling.
      GL^HF!
