It should only be healed when selected or focused so you can pop it at the correct time. This is for both living and rejuvenation mushroom
I actually thought it would only heal if it was selected or put on focus, haven't noticed it healing without those two bits

Just lower the health settings until you find you are surviving the fight with just a tiny bit of mana ;-) it's a good foundation for you to start...
