Viva la bossland!
As far as I can gather, this should be completely legal, and there are multiple lawsuits to suggest it is so. . . To the best of my understanding, Honorbuddy is almost entirely a SHELL program, to which the users themselves program and use the bot. The best example(if the above is true) would be Pirate Bay. Pirate Bay does NOT break copyright laws because they are merely a sit that hosts torrents; the users of Pirate Bay break copyright laws when they post things copyrighted. If my understanding of HonorBuddy is correct, your lawyer should walk in the room, and say, "I would like to take this trial to judgement based on precedent." and provide the materials from the MANY Pirate Bay cases, all of which resulted in them being found not guilty, whether by appealing or in the initial trial. I'll be checking to see the updates! =D
Eh blizzard, i said on official eu.battle.net forums that i bot, how i bot, got blue reply, no bans. So i say fuck the system
I never gave them any proof, just in case.
Another angle that many haven't considered is that a bot is an accessibility aid to people with a disability. If you have one of the medical conditions that make it very painful, difficult or even impossible to use a keyboard and mouse to play, then having a program to do that for you is compliant with all of the legislation (especially in the US and Canada) that requires merchants, institutions and corporations to provide accommodation for people with disabilities. A bot is a great assistive device!
I use it because of severe tendonitis and carpal tunnel (does my rotations for me). I don't bot to farm mats etc.
that argument already failed in the Glider court case....
in usa, it hasn't failed in the eu (yet?), laws are different
It would be a braver man than I (as en Englishman) to suggest that the precedent wouldn't easily apply in Europe.
We shouldn't have to come up with bullshit fake stories though; either Blizzard have a case and they own what goes on in my RAM space, or they don't. Simple as that.
The USA Law system is based on the UK one, but thankfully, the whole Europe do not follow it, so no, we dont accept precedents in Europe, generally.
Oh, in which case I'm handicapped too. Save me zee german courts! schnell schnell!
Any update on this? I really don't wanna browse through 60+ pages.
Next wednesday is a new court schedule. But it is again in Hamburg, which is known for shitty ruling, so chances are high this will be bad news again...
In my oppinion it will start getting interesting at the federal court.
So? How did it go?
With next i meant next week, not this weeks wednesday. Sorry. 10th of september will be the date.
Wow, what is their complete case for sewing you?
good luck to you @bossland ! we all hope the best for tomorrow.
Yep, they actually failed miserably presenting the case too, they hadn't presented any credible evidence.
As for the USA court system following the EU system, both are broken systems. The legal system is, quite frankly, a joke.
good luck today
yea any news?
