thats all cool and all much love. but why not release HB without dungeonbuddy for now so atleast other stuff can be fixed? as they said they were waiting for dungeonbuddy to release the new HB
As the DemonBuddy people are a bit unoccupied at the moment, can they work on DungeonBuddy project? 2 birds, 1 stone....
Thanks for the update, highvoltz. With most people outgearing encounters, even while leveling (BoA gear), can the avoidance system be put on the back burner until DB is actually up and running? It would let you focus on one aspect of the botbase at a time, not get 70% done with something, then swap to something else for a few weeks, etc. Just trying to give ideas for better efficiency. Agreed. Gives that original "ETA" of the end of May quite a bit less substance. Any chance we can expect this by the end of the month with the recent injunction of Demonbuddy?
There will be a New HB release they say this friday and if they don't have DB done then it won't get a release(which by friday and how much they say they still need is not really a good chance) but they say a New HB will be released (Raphus) i think thats how you spell his name. anyway we just have to wait to see Friday. if its not released atleast there will be a new HB Update
So it's basically scrapped now. That was one big waste of time hoping for a real dungeon bot. Mind you, the guys working are the ones who lost actual time. I don't see why they don't just release it and allow the rest of the community to write dungeon scripts
The DungeonBuddy Project is not gone, It requires additional things in core and Highvoltz has a real job as well. See
Take your time with this project, Highvoltz and the rest of the HB crew, we love what you do. For those complaining and beggin for a release: GO OUT ENJOY SUMMER AND LEAVE YOUR BOTS ALONE!
I think the problem is the conflicting information. HighVoltz says it's not near completion with no Cataclysm dungeons being scripted yet due to an avoidance system needing to be scripted and implemented. Raphus says it's near completion. Yet we're promised estimated release dates, which come and go and then confusing information is released.
This. From highvoltz's update, it does seem pretty far off from a release and in no way was the end of May date even close to accurate. It's already been 3 additional weeks and according to highvoltz it is still not even close to release. I do appreciate the "updates," but is the Buddy Team not quite on the same page with the progress of the project? "Most likely not make it to the Friday release" gives the impression that there's a chance it will be ready and according to highvoltz and laria, there's pretty much 0% chance it'll be ready this week, or really next week. I don't mind the wait, just consistency among the persons providing updates.
Should just do it like raphus did AB in the beginning. A separate bot, then when it is mostly functional add it to releases of HB built in. Everyone hammers for an eta, developers hate to give them. This is why. "E" = estimate. Not like it's an estimate for car repairs, more like when the world will end.
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career on reddit. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let Dungeonbuddy go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will write passively aggressive messages in response to all your threads.
Looks around the room then hands you a piece of paper. My friend wrote this down for me but i don't speak binary to well and wanted to make sure what it said. Mind translating it for me? "01100111 01101111 01101111 01100100 00100000 01101100 01110101 01100011 01101011" We spoke earlier on the IRC channel.
It'll be done when it's done. This is why people are so hesitant to give an ETA, because they moment that original ETA doesn't hold up, they get grilled over it. Sounds like the team is working very hard on producing a quality release instead of releasing it when it clearly isn't ready. Patience.
I guess you can't Read. There hasn't been a Promised ETA with DungeonBuddy but if its not done by Friday it will be Added later on but They are really only wanting to release the New HB Update to fix errors and work on new ones also if DB is done by Friday if its not then won't be released. So to Disagree with your reply there isn't a ETA for DungeonBuddy but there is a ETA for the new HB update with or without DB.
I can read these previous ETAs - I never claimed any of them were "promised" ETAs. ETA = Estimated Time of Arrival =/= Promised. Not trying to stir the pot, but there have been numerous ETAs over the last few months, the above are just from a quick search. There has been some conflicting information from different persons involved based on their differing knowledge on the status. I don't mind changing ETAs if necessary at all, as I would rather have a quality product over something filled with bugs - the concern I brought up is that many people involved aren't on the same page and are sending mixed signals on the status. I know highvoltz has a job IRL that has taken his focus from the project, but that doesn't mean that the project team shouldn't be on the same page. My suggestion: Post an "official" thread and revise the first post of said thread with updates/progress/ETAs. It is much easier to track the status of the project if all the information is in a single location (e.g., a single forum post) and it would help reduce the need to respond to SO MANY replies in random DB (or other project) threads.
