      Guys,

I know everyone is upset about what happened, some got their main accounts banned.
Wether this is because Honorbuddy was flawed, or because Warden got an promotion, it doesn't matter much.
In the end of the day we have ourselves to blame for the risk we took.

The main question is, does appealing help lower the ban time?
And if it did, how did you do it?

I've seen reports of players that got 6 months on their first warning, this seems very harsh to me.
I remember back in the days (2-3 years ago) you'd get banned for 72 hours maximum or even 48 hours.

Is there something we can do? Do they show empathy?

      Your thoughts?

      Regards,
      Piet

      EDIT:

This is the appeal I sent in:
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Dear Blizzard,

First and foremost I want to apologize for my recent behaviour regarding World of Warcraft. I acknowledge the fact that I have violated the terms I agreed to follow and I deeply regret my actions regarding this matter...

World of Warcraft plays a large role in my life. I have met friends here, play with them, own a guild and spend alot of time each day to make sure I socialise enough and to make sure all my characters have enough oil to continue doing their garrison shipyards. :)

As you can see in my account history, I'm a player that has been around since Vanilla, I've seen everything, been everywhere.

I've met alot of different kind of people in World of Warcraft, some good, some bad. I've met a particular person that suggested me to use a certain software to make my life ingame easier. Without being aware of the consequences I decided to give it a try.

This was one of the worst decisions I have made in my life, I should've known better and shouldn't have trusted strangers, as of now it feels like a chunk of my life has been torn away.

The only one to blame is myself, I have taken this the hard way and deeply regret it...

I appeal to you, my heroes, the people that made my life more colourful, more fun, and allowed me to meet friends from all over the world.
Is there a possibility to lower the time that my account is closed?

I am very excited for the coming expansion, just started leveling a shaman with a good friend of mine (which I have to dissapoint aswell) and with my 6 months suspension, I will be missing the launch.
That saddens me deeply, I've always been there at every launch of a new expansion and to miss this one would be heartbreaking.

Again, I know apologizing doesn't matter now, since the rules have been violated. But if it does matter, I sincerely apologise and hopefully you will grant me a final chance to prove my good will and fight the legion to help save Azeroth.

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the answer I got:

We have detected botting activity on this account and sent you an email with details on its suspension. This issue is closed and we will not accept further appeals.

Sounds awefully scripted and automated to me!

No, they will just close every appeal you make with the same replies. They want us to pay for new accounts, in a few months they want us to buy Legion on that new account, and in 6 months they want us to resubscribe to our banned account, buy Legion there a 2nd time, or even pay for character transfers between accounts.

      Well played Blizzard, well played!

I wonder if they actually make the same replies to every appeal. That would mean the outcome is the same for every appeal, meaning appealing is pointless. Meaning that they give users false hope and their appeal function is pointless.

Your logic is flawed though, they miss 6 months of subscription, equals about 78€ each player. This is more than buying legion, besides people have pre-ordered Legion mostly, except the real 'botters'.

Nope, most players will continue playing on a new account, so they won't miss the subscription. They will even earn more because you have to buy WoW again. + Overwatch is being released next week, so many players will start there.

& your appeal is very bad since you acknowledge you *****ed in your first paragraph, the wall of text that follows it does not matter.

I think people with main accounts won't make a new account, they'll just wait it out.. the real 'botters' will though.

Acknowledging that you've made a mistake works way better than keeping up that you're hacked (which they can see by checking the IP that logged in), what else can you say?

Anyone else appealed and got the same answer?

I did! I had a very similar approach to yours, I acknowledged my mistake, apologized and asked if being my 1st offense in 10 years wouldn't lighten up a bit the suspension time. I got that exact same answer :(

Then I wrote back, talking again about how it was my 1st time, and asking them to check my logs and see I didn't use it much, and didn't heavily farmed gold (I usually use the bot in garrison stuff because I'm lazy to do the same things with 4-5 chars). I finished by writing how I was looking forward to play in Legion ( useless I know but I rly was). This time a new GM answered me, he was nice and more talkative and explained nothing would really change the suspension at this point and that botting is a serious things etc etc

I sent my final answer, acknowledging again that they were right and I broke the rules and deserved the suspension but that I felt the time was too harsh considering how I botted too little, was my 1st offense etc and finished by asking if they ever review the times etc, to give me a small chance to reduce the time and I would never bot again ..

I got a final answer that the duration of suspension would never change :(

"I think people with main accounts won't make a new account"
yup, that's my case, I was silly enough to bot with my main and won't make a new account. I would buy the battlechest for 10$ if I wanted to play wow really bad but no way I would buy the new EP for a new account and later for my main account!

It seems they show no remorse... regardless of circumstances.

Almost same here, Ticket I wrote yesterday was closed without an answer.
Tried Livechat, no way to reduce suspension time.
